If you look around there are quite a few 2.0L engines out there. A lot of early coupes were parted out.
You are extremely right Volkmar I would dare say that the gearbox with the mechanical oil pump, is oh so difficult to find
You can tell this is a Series one by the air cleaner. Has the external choke. That aircleaner, even in that condition, is worth at least $1500. Its at 2600 now.Carbs, distributor, intake, exhaust manifold, radiator (unobtainium) etc...If it goes for less than $3500 its a steal. Don't poo poo the Fiat Dino! Owners include Gordon Murray, Ian Tyrrell, Jim Glickenhaus, and me.
$15K. More or less, all of these engines end around that valuation. The buyer is an avid collector. Best way to buy an engine: OPEN
Wow I'm shocked. I looked just before it ended and it was $3800. 15K seems a bit overpriced but I've seen someone try to sell just a set of carbs for $10K.
Fiat Dino sacrifices are things that don't exist anymore.... (Thank Goodness for that) These seem cheap even today, but I have been waiting for the market to change... I have been doing that for quite a few years. Dino's are viewed VERY different today than 10 years ago. I am super curious as to how this changes in the next 10 years.... I still believe what I believed 20 years ago, the Dino is a niche BUT very interesting Ferrari Call me crazy, but I am now thinking the 308 is the "Next Best Thing". For those not in the Dino price range, the 308 is the next and maybe last aspect of this. I used to think the 328 was the thing people wanted, but I can't find the same liking today as I did 20 years ago. The 308 is "Better" than the 328, WTH?
I think if you go for a 308, it has to be a 308GTB and if you go for a 308GTB if it’s in your budget I’d go for a dry sump Vetroresina. I also think a F355GTB is one of the great ones!
I’ve never experienced a 348. I’ve heard they have some handling issues. I’d love to learn more from those that have experienced them. How about the 348tb Serie Speciale? https://supercarnostalgia.com/blog/one-to-buy-unique-in-blu-sera-1993-ferrari-348-tb-serie-speciale
