I had my 2013 ferrari serviced and there is excessive play in the bush highlighted wtih the green arrow - its the lower bush of the rear hub carrier - and its gone bad on both sides of the car.

Ferrari dont sell the bush - you have to buy the entire hub, but there are places on ebay selling bushes for this purpose (see 2nd picture and this link Ferrari Rear Hub Carrier Lower Bush 458 488 812 F12 California 299933 299935 | eBay ).

My question is - does anyone see any reason why i wouldnt be able to press the old bush out and install one of these and save over £1000 a side?

Well in the absence of a response here, i went ahead and ordered two of them and wll take some pictures when i come to do this. Managed to get them for circ 50 USD each and the seller assures me they are just a press fit.

Put everything in the freezer to help the old one come out

Ill use the "threaded bar, nuts, washers and sockets" method first and see if it comes out that way, and ill freeze the replacement bushing first before i try to reinstall it.

You wouldnt really want the hub itself frozen as it will contract, but if the bush was frozen it will make it easier to install.

I just wasnt sure if the reason that ferrari dont sell it is that itnot possible to interference fit these for some reason but i will find out soon enough i guess

$50 vs. £1,000!! Willing to wager the non-OEM replacement is of at least the same or better quality too. Please can you share where you ordered from? Keen to hear how it goes once fitted. #Subscribed

ok - i manged to get the disc off this morning- i hadnt completely /properly disengaged the parking brake. Now im contesting with the circlip that seems to be holding the bushing in place. Im trying to do this on the car without taking the hub off the axle as ive heard that the sealant thats on the axle shats can be a bit of a pain, but lets see.

This is an old thread but since its been recently replied I'd like to know how the heck can you compress that circlip especially if there is a tight fit of the bushing in the carrier? Seems impossible without complete removal of the carrier and drilling/machining of the bushing. That 1k cost may be an even swap given the grief involved.

My specialist is going to give the bush-only change a go over winter. Am equally prepared for £1k a corner full arm change on the rear (both sides) if it doesn’t go smoothly. Will report back probably January. I’m over the fact china mass produces some of these parts, in the end if it wasn’t a common issue with factory parts they wouldn’t bother making/selling loads of them!!
