At this rate he will scoop it in the last grand prix.
Lando is overrated, Piastri is out of his groove, mclarent doesnt have the best car anymore , or if they do, its by a hair over red bull (in the hands of Max).
Max is by FAR the best driver in f1 and a true generational talent and KILLER.
With the 2 mclaren drivers driving like turds and fighting each others...thats all MAX needs.

I wouldn't mind Ferrari stealing some points to help Max.

Based on how everyone is driving, Max just may do it. He is the mark all the others haven't matched.

I hope Max wins. Piastri has become a total mental case. Looks like a totally different guy than at the beginning of the season. I like Lando, but he is not in the same league as Max.

I don't believe in "deserving" anything in racing, but Max and RB have worked their ass off to get back into it. It's a better story to me than Piastri or Lando putzing their way over the finish line.

It does raise the question though - what if Max had bit punted Russell at the Spanish gp?

    In YOUR opinion.

LOTS of WDC drivers were deemed to be 'overrated' - but they 'somehow' win championships.

Max winning would not surprise me one bit, neither would Lando or Oscar.

You left out McC's girls' rules: we gotta be fair ..... to baby Lando .... even though he's 22 points behind Oscar.

I can't imagine Oscar getting his groove back until he moves to another team, after the psychological destruction McC has buried him in.

Lando is not overrated. He's an elite driver. Max is just on another level. I would suspect Lando will get there eventually, but he may be a bit too nice to ever achieve what Max has in the sport.

If Max wins the championship it could be considered the greatest season ever. It's very very doubtful it happens and almost certainly will require Piastri and maybe even Lando to get at least 1 DNF while Max wins that race for it to be a real possibility. I know one thing, I'm rootin' for Max.

Lando just needs the best car and the team's support. Oh wait.

Lando is honestly very good but in a history of true champions, Lando isn't one of them. Even if he wins it this year, he's shown he's not one I'd consider "Elite" when recognized against the likes of Schumacher, Verstappen or Senna.

I meant elite vs current competition.

I agree with you and we won't know where he stacks up all time for many years.

Lando is good, not great. Flashes of brilliance but no consistency.

nope its factual... Lando already had the better car for half a season last year did nothing, showed bad calls many times from a strategy perspective... He is this generation's coulthard or damon hill. Max , whom i dont love, is the superstart

Elite means one of the best drivers on the grid.

Great is something you earn over many years.

    So I agree with you.

    Right before Monza, Piastri had 309pts vs Max's 205pts. That's a 104pt deficit.

Currently before COTA(race), the deficit between Piastri and Max is 55pts. Max has cut that deficit literally in half and will possibly chop more points off of Piastri as the season ends.

IF Max pulls this off and becomes WDC for 2025, it will be one of the greatest comebacks in F1 history(given the deficit) and quite possibly another record as well.

The man just keeps on stomping on! He is relentless and consistent when he knows the car is in the right balance window.
