I have an original fuel injection system for a 450/S engine. I am wondering if there are any members on this forum that know of any original cars or engines. Any engines from racing boats to spares,..to 5000 GT engines I would be interested in chatting with or anyone with a FI system for racing.

That is an extremely random and cool thing to have, how did you end up with that?

There are several people that still race cars and use the Lucas FI system on Chev V8 .Kinsler still services these units and has a great knowledge of them

That is not a factory unit. It is a modified Hilborn Injection unit. Most probably done on the West Coast in late 1950s/early 1960s.

@DWR46 Good eye and yes, I am aware of that.

It is NOT a modified Hilborn injection system. It is a Hilborn factory made and cast unit 1957 for a Maserati 450/S engine. (says so on the part and the documents).

It was made for Tony Parravano/Maserati racing team. I have the history and paper work from Hilborn. It was made for the 1957 Indianapolis 500, with two factory 450S engines and support, it is a bespoke part, and was not sold on the market. At that time Mr. Parravano was on point with his racing career, and cost was not an issue.

I am reaching out to owners of any 450S engines and or cars for information on the engines, and Lucas systems. Trying to learn.

Let's put in on your car....it will make it go! ;-)

    Grazie/Merci/Danke

wow. Love it. I too am a Maserati nerd. I bet this works far better than the Lucas unit. I know more than one 5000gt have been modified so the original Lucas intakes have EFI injectors, worked a treat, and all hidden under the air box. I want to say that engine made some 416hp or so after doing so.
