SF90 owners, now that you have it,,, would you trade for a PISTA

Fair enough but I also think Ferrari doesn't take a literal approach with cars like the Speciale and Pista. They are street cars that give you more track sensations than the standard model and are better for driving experience/ track days.

 

First day ever on track was in a 16M at a Ferrari event among 100s of others.
First time loading my car into a new trailer and dragging it 9 hours loading and unloading it by myself.
There were also guys driving 2 - 20m older Ferrari's racing tracking side by side -
Don't know one guy who fits the mold you describe - not one.
The track version isn't some special track car - it's slightly lighter more aero more hp - don't get it twisted, it's still a road car. I've tracked every car from Carrera GT to Viper and would never push it past 7/10th's. You can buy a Ferrari track car for the price of a Tailor Made special paint.

 

These cars do a specific and important job IMO. Of course they are not like race cars - they are firmly road cars but they feel better on track than their standard counterparts . And their repertoire includes being able to drive to and from track and go on road trips etc. Race cars are more track focused - in particular they can use slicks - but you often need transport to and from the track and in the case of, say a 488 EVO, a team to manage the car. More fun for those specific moments on track but for a weekend heading to Spa, probably has its downsides because you have less flexibility and way higher costs. Overall, there is definitely something to be said for chucking your helmet in a Pista and heading to the track, then driving back whenever you want and taking whatever route you want…in a Pista

I got a Capristo remote. No problems with it. Good to have the valves open all of the time. It really does need more though, for what I like. I’m thinking the coupe may sound better than the spider because I enjoy the sound with the top up more. I ordered a 296gtb for that reason.

 

I'm on the fence currently on whether to get the coupe or spider so that is good info to know. I live in California and so emissions rules make it difficult to run sport cats but not sure id want to do that with the SF90 - complex machine

Hmmm. Maybe a little. I love my spec, and the interior is an upgrade, but I kiss the simplicity of the Pista. No regret trading a Speciale for the Pista, but maybe a little with sf90. Sf90 is impressive when pushing it for sure.

 

So speciale is that much more impressive than the pista? Been debating between selling my pista spider for an SF stradale or speciale.

 

I loved my Pista, looks, driving, downshifts. All stellar. Sound was lacking even with an X pipe exhaust, and that is very important to my Ferrari experience. Speciale ticks all those boxes and of course the sound. Feels like something special…really. My favorite car by far.

 

Suggest looking into 16m at 1/3 price of 458aperta.
Add full Capristo and you have a very capable Ferrari - very close to Speciale
Speciale - 2k miles vs 8k on 16M.

 

With Pista values surging and an updated SF90 on the horizon how are people feeling?

 

Many cars now come with DOT 4 from the factory, it is just fine for the road. Yes wet boiling point could be compromised if you don’t change it for a year or more AND you aggressively brake multiple times on the road.

Perfect solution is DOT 4 Castrol SRF fluid, great for the track and great for the street.

 

Would get rid of sf90 in a second for a Pista. Easy choice. Tiered car. No hybrid garbage. Closer to original vision. Don’t like turbos but if that’s the option yes all day.

 

Would be fun to own a pista spider, but so happy with my sf90 spider that I don't care. People think about value drop so much that I wonder if they should even own a Ferrari. With that said, I'm sure pista is a fantastic car to drive and own. But so is sf90 too.

Unpopular opinion, but I actually appreciate a hybrid car. Sometime you get stuck in traffic, or when you come home late you don't want to wake up the whole neighborhood and family.

 

no, but would absolutely get Pista or something else as addition. Not always about speed. Had F8 for a few years, and business partner had Pista, amazing cars, almost nothing I dislike about the car or wish it had more of other than traction, a little less hesitation, and exhaust valve disabled. SF90 performance is another planet, far more instant responds, handles better, just the exhaust valve is quite annoying.

Everyone should have at least one hybrid super car, once own one it is hard to go back to to full ICE without having multiple cars. If there are two variation of same car (same size engine), the hybrid version usually will be far superior. For example I have a 22 Urus as well, non hybrid version, which is awesome to drive already. The hybrid Urus SE is unbelievably better to drive, despite performance on paper similar, real world responds, feel and performance on SE is so much better. When someone go from non hybrid version of Urus to Urus SE or 991 GTS to 992.2 GTS, they know, once experienced it.

 

Agree. It's the biggest downside of owning a hybrid supercar, everything else feels slow. Have a 458 speciale aperta, 10 years old obviously but that car feels SLOW. Which it obviously isn't.

 

Fully agree, only those who’ve actually driven/live with these cars truly appreciate them. The hybrid system is so seamless yet so effective that rejecting it is just irrational. I love my hybrids. As for the trade, the Pista is a lightweight, track-focused variant of the standard 488, while the 488 Challenge is the most extreme race version of that platform. I’d trade two Challenge cars for a SF90 any day. The Pista, as stunning as it is (and one of the most beautiful modern Ferrari designs, in my opinion), simply can’t compare. The SF90 plays in another league entirely, it belongs in the hypercar category.

 

SF90 AF V8 plays the part in looks and performance - it's really misunderstood by most.
SF90 will age will - lot depends on the spec.
