Max is now 40pts away from Piastri.
Piastri lost his mojo it seems. Hypothetically: If Max wins 4 more races with Piastri P3 or worse he's beaten him. Norris P2 in those races and Max beats him too I believe.
RedBull(Max-Bull) is now: 1) 3pts away from the WCC standings from Ferrari. Currently Ferrari is P3 in the WCC standings. 2) 10pts away from the WCC standings from Mercedes. Currently Mercedes is P2 in the WCC standings.
That's how you judge someone being 'overrated'? LOL, I better stay away for awhile, because I can pick that to pieces - and you STILL wouldn't 'get it'.
Couple of scenario's Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Even in 2nd scenario with both Max and Norris even on points Max will take it because more wins. I believe Mercedes will be very strong at Vegas hence neither of the title contenders taking the win. Ferrari might be a nuisance for Piastri if his slump continues at maybe Mexico and Abu Dhabi
Very interesting end of championship! Again my only fear for Max is reliability, otherwise both Piastri and Norris are just amateurs compared to him..
Crikey, you guys are unreal, dont get so excitable over... what if's Celebrate when he wins the WDC but it's all to play for and may the best man win.
This season, like last, is really putting things in perspective just how much greater Max is. The fact that he is still relevant at this stage in the championship is a feat by itself. And boy do I hope these words come back to haunt Norris: Image Unavailable, Please Login
The actual standings make it mandatory for McL to prioritize one driver, if they want to become WDC. I think McL already made their choice - and I'm assuming that's the reason for Piastris drop in performance.
Apart from superior talent, Verstappen also benefits from not having a rival in his team. Norris and Piastri have been tripping over themselves all year and taking points from each other. When McLaren was clearly leading at the begining of the season, Brown and Stella decided to be "fairplay" and let Norris challenge Piastri ahead in the points. The stupid "papaya rule" may come back to haunt them. They didn't count on Red Bull hability to improve their car, and Verstappen's to turn the table on them.
Whilst true, the bold bit is not a complete advantage for Max, as his teammate is so far back (again), Max can't rely on him to take any points away from the mclaren's whatsoever. I think I'm correct in saying that the Mclarens finished (far) ahead of Max's teammate this whole year . By the time the the first round of pitstops happen Tsunoda is so far back already that he rarely if ever makes an impact on whether the Mclarens' can pit or not...
Max cut a 104pt deficit to Piastri in 4 races down to 40pts. There's 5 races left plus 2 Sprint Races. Those Sprint Races(8pts for 1st place) and the Race(25pts for 1st place) gets the lead driver in both races 33pts. That's 66pts total for both Sprint Race wins and both Race wins. Then there's 3 races in original format so 25pts each for a grand total of 75pts. 66pts + 75pts = 141pts left to grab IF Max gets 1st place.
From a strategy point of view you may be right. But Max isn't challenged by a team mate like Piastri is. Red Bull is supporting him fully, not keeping him on a leach.
yes it's ebbs and flows. Certainly last 4 races Piastri hasn't clocked in at all to the benefit of Norris, as he's still there strategically at least. Either way rest of the season certainly has spiced up
Hopefully no damage, or dirty or stupid contact by Russell or lando towards Max or who knows, someone could cause penalties on max. Max makes F1worth watching, he makes it exciting especially since he has been an underdog against Mclaren. Not corn row nose stud.
I didn't see that coming but it certainly is now a possibility. I keep rooting for Piastri but agree that he looks like a has-been recently. I absolutely 100% don't want Lando to win the title. Can't stand the entitled guy and team favorite. So for now I'm still hoping Piastri finds back to his former glory. Short of that I'm perfectly fine with Max stealing it from the arrogant McLaren/Zak group. As for the what-if games: I'm sure one of the three will have a DNF in one of the remaining races and that will settle the score one way or the other.
