    A few years ago, I walked in on a coffee station conversation among a bunch of female new hires, all just out of college (engineering). One woman was being complemented profusely on her fancy new sweater. It sounded like all the others wanted to get one too. The sweater owner said, with great pride, that she bought it used at a thrift store, meaning that it was one of a kind. The envy continued.

    I walked away with a feeling that times had certainly changed.

    I have a few more dollars into it, I bought some suede elbow patches for $7 and my tailor is charging $20 to sew them on, almost doubling my cost!
