does anyone have any real knowledge of big $$$ failures on the 296/ sf90s? I haven't read or spoken with anyone that would lead me to believe these cars are endemically flawed even with time and miles.

I am wondering if it make sense to just self insure. $30k for 3 years. Maybe nothing goes wrong. That $30k would have become $40k if invested in the S&P 500 over that same 3 years time frame.

There are plenty of discussions in the various model threads of the upsides and downsides to renewing - Safe4now's thread should not get sidelined by that as it is trying just to explain the intricacies of the Ferrari system

    Hi,
I am expecting the 2026 296 GTS in 2 months. First Ferrari, and located in SoCal region. I plan/intend to keep the vehicle about 8-10 years (hopefully), and significant driving (anticipate 7,000-11,000 miles a year). Some questions. I apologize if these were answered in this thread- I tried to look back and check before I posted this.

1 Could you guys tell me if I purchase a 8 year extended coverage for warranty / hybrid system, they won’t replace my battery, would they? Or I have to purchase total of 9 year warranty + hybrid coverage for the new battery?

    2. If I do sell before the 8-9 years, does Ferrari N.A. / dealer refund the prorated amount back?

    3. Do I have to purchase this extended warranty on delivery ? (not sure if it’s cheaper), or I can shop around even within a few months of delivery and will be same price?

    4. Lastly, it seems different dealerships offer the same package at a different price. I imagine even if I’m in California, but some Ferrari dealer in another state is selling the warranty, it doesn’t make any difference I imagine right? Overall same warranty, same North America coverage?…

Thanks, and apologies again if I missed any of the above answers in this thread.

Let me first state you will be a very unique Ferrari owner with that sort of mileage.

Extended factory warrantee was usually offered after the standard factory warrantee is about to expire.

Usually they will inspect before offering it and they will charge you for that service.

In my era 2018 you could not purchase the extended until the standard 3 year warrantee was about to expire.

No refunds they are transferred to the next owner.

Have no idea what will happen if the battery stuffs up. Just be prepared not to have the car for some time.

Ive always seen prices vary depending on what state.

I could be wrong but recall reading cars over 100 k cannot have the extended warrantee

A - Currently, you are only able to purchase 2 years of hybrid - warranty extension at a time. If, you were to every 2 years purchase the hybrid - warranty extension, then in the 9th year they would replace the hybrid battery as part of their current program.

    2. If I do sell before the 8-9 years, does Ferrari N.A. / dealer refund the prorated amount back?
A - Per above, you are only able to purchase one or two years of warranty extension at a time, which may negate this question.

    3. Do I have to purchase this extended warranty on delivery ? (not sure if it’s cheaper), or I can shop around even within a few months of delivery and will be same price?
A - You are able to select the hybrid-warranty extension as you near the end of the initial 3 year factory warranty.

    4. Lastly, it seems different dealerships offer the same package at a different price. I imagine even if I’m in California, but some Ferrari dealer in another state is selling the warranty, it doesn’t make any difference I imagine right? Overall same warranty, same North America coverage?…
A - Ferrari NA has established the MSRP of each warranty extension / power warranty option. Some warranty require more in depth inspections. The variation in pricing usually is related to each dealerships door rate. Ferrari has also made it so that a Ferrari must physically be at the selling dealership location in order to scan the car in and out, along with the physical inspections that are required. So purchasing from an out of state dealership is more difficult and would require a road-trip of sorts. Yes, the warranty is good at any North American dealership, regardless where purchased.

Last, but not least, some service departments offer Ferrari Club of America discounts for members in good standing.
