I would say it was a bigger failure than Lewis couldn't advance on Norris when he was stuck behind Charlie for 20 laps. Norris was in trouble going over track limits 3 times but Hamilton was still hanging around 2 seconds back.

Happy to see the Hulk and Alonso in the points. Hard to get excited about Ferrari. Though credit due for the team today. Why can’t Lewis become more competitive…..

The rest of the end of the season isn't going to be pleasant for Ferrari Fans. I expect Max and the two Macs on every podium in some order.

IDK, how did chuck keep USED softs alive for so long. I think its the other way. They cant get the harder compound to work well. HE was on those softs for something like 20 laps with full fuel and Norris could not make a move,.

I mean wasn't the Hungarian gp porcelain vases or something? I forget which one had big metal plates? There are tons of trophies that are not motorsports specific. Look at the driver reactions when they got the these trophies. They thought they were cool.

The top guys will appreciate the variety in my opinion. What is Max going to do with 67 cups? Makes for a boring trophy case.

They are mementos, Im sure he will appreciate them more at a future date. In club racing getting plaques for podiums we called getting wood. I have plenty, when I walk by them in my loft area they remind me of how they made me who I am, the friends I made and the battles I fought on track racing amateur superbike, SCCA and Spec Miata. Dating back to 1994-2016 ish.

If Max can win the next two races, he'll be within striking distance of the championship for the final 3 events. He's already one race win away from overtaking Norris in the point - if the latter crashes out and Max wins.

Not good. Not good at all for McLaren. Their car doesn't seem to be working very well right now. Norris and Piastri have a legit claim to not follow team orders, but McLaren has set a bad precedent. There's going to come a point where one of their drivers is going to have to move over or hold position, or else Max is going to win the championship, which was unthinkable a month ago. Making Piastri move over in Monza for Norris could absolutely come back to haunt them all.

If McLaren actually lose the WDC, they'll make Ferrari look like a competent team in terms of management.

That's my point - F1 has unique trophies; don't make them all cups as Giallo is suggesting.

Red Bull Trophy Case as an example...why would you want them to all be essentially the same?

During the broadcast they show a display that said Norris has 30% left, and LeClerc had 90%. This was just before Norris' pass. It might have been just 10% for Norris. Shouldn't be hard to find it. I've watched Alonzo use his battery to hold off faster cars for almost five laps.

Apparently Mr. f1statsguru has never heard of Phil Hill, Mario Andretti, Niki Lauda, Giancarlo Baghetti, Lorenzo Bandini, or Carlos Reutemann, and possibly others. Kind of calls the credibility of the whole thing into question.

Anything "powered by AMS" is 100% false. I love when drivers have 5% or less tires left and they go for another 10 laps.

Truth is McLaren fully don’t trust Norris or Piastri to win this WDC..

If McLaren had any sense, they'd prioritize Piastri. He's 14 points further up in the championship than Max. If Piastri can get a win under his belt, he can probably win the championship.

Problem is, I don't see Lando moving over. He's close to a WDC. It's understandable. This mess is on McLaren. They better make some hard calls, now, and not later. Because if Max gets within 30 points of the lead, he'll put more pressure on both McLaren drivers than they can handle, imho.

I mean, McLaren hired them. If McLaren don't trust their drivers to show enough maturity to not squander championship level pace in the cars provided to them, then that really is a testament to the leadership at McLaren being immature themselves.

It's just unbelievable that McLaren have opened themselves up like this.

Red Bull rules breach involved tampering with Norris grid marker
Team member attempted to re-enter the grid after the formation lap had begun – with the aim of removing a mark left on the pitwall as a reference point for Lando Norris
    Stuart Codling Ronald Vording
    Published: Oct 20, 2025, 7:17 AM

Following the United States Grand Prix in Austin, Red Bull was fined €50,000, of which €25,000 was suspended for the remainder of the Formula 1 season, when a crew member tried to return to the grid against marshals' instructions after the formation lap had begun.

It has been confirmed to Autosport by multiple sources that the purpose of the invasion was to remove a vertical strip of duct tape attached to the pitwall to aid Lando Norris in positioning his car at the front of his grid 'box'. This part of the incident escaped the attention of the FOM TV cameras but is understood to have been captured by trackside CCTV.

The marker, at roughly the driver's head height if the grid spot is adjacent to a wall, is usually placed while Norris is in the car on the grid, and its function is to provide a visual reference when he pulls up in the box after the formation lap – to avoid a repeat of the positioning error he made in this year's Bahrain GP. The driver has such a restricted view of the track surface from the cockpit that it is difficult to see the markings on the grid itself.

The tape strip can be seen in the background of the image below, in the 'S' of the MSC Cruises ad hoarding to the left of the gate.

There is nothing in the regulations to prevent teams from placing markers in this way – equally, there is nothing to stop other competitors removing them, hence this aspect of the Red Bull team member's behaviour did not form part of the official documentation. The offence was "Failure to follow the instructions of relevant officials", in this case the marshals who were attempting to close the gate leading to the grid.

Access for personnel between the pitlane and the grid is made possible via several gates, essentially movable sections of the pitwall. These have to be moved back into place and secured after the grid is cleared following the formation lap, otherwise the race cannot start.

It is understood that, as described in the stewards' document, the Red Bull team member attempted to re-enter the grid via Gate 1, which at COTA is adjacent to the second-placed grid spot which was to be occupied by Norris. They then failed to comply with the marshals' attempts to prevent them from doing so.

Team principal Laurent Mekies' usual post-race media briefing was delayed by 75 minutes and it is believed that this is a consequence of his attendance at the hearing. Speaking at this press conference – before the verdict was issued – Mekies said: "We fully respect the stewards.

"But just to tell you what I know, I think we were summoned because it was felt that some time during the grid procedures one of our guys had not followed the official, some marshal instructions. And we spoke with our people. They are very positive that they have followed marshal instructions at all times.

"So I think it's probably a misunderstanding there. Again, we went to see the video with the FIA. And for sure it's something we can do better in the future.

Imperious from Max. Champions drive. I never thought anyone would get into the same continent as McLaren but somehow, RB have managed it. The next 5 races will be epic!

3 way battle for 3rd place in the WCC is also going to be epic. RB back in the game now that Yuki is scoring points.

Speaking of Yuki, why didn’t he get a penalty for forcing Bearman to spin off? That was a disgraceful move. Can you imagine the handbags if that had been Max, Norris, Piastri or the Ferrari boys?

Nice result for Ferrari. Good points. More needed to secure 2nd in the WCC, but at least the driver pairing is scoring more consistently than Merc or RBs duo.

Piastri needs to sort his head out. He was no where this weekend.
