    The photo shows the intake manifold inlet of a 308 (carbureted version). There seems to be some reddish, crystal-like substance attached. Do you know what this might be?

    The intake manifold gasket is letting coolant from the above passage enter the port. You're going to find plugged ports and transfer slots as well as lot of corrosion when you remove the manifold. And do both banks not just the one.

    Not that this is what this is but doesn't excessive octane booster additives leave a reddish "film" in places?
