Modify a 296 or buy an old challenge car and street legal it.
Be careful installing a rolll bar and driving it on the street could cause a nice dent in your melon.
I think the VS has a lot to do with track times - they jut built a second track for that reason.

I own a 296 and have the VS on order. I'm just so surprised at the amount of hate for Ferrari and the cars that they produce in this forum. I love driving my 296 and appreciate every moment I have behind the wheel. Neither car is an investment for me but a source of enjoyment.

IMO- Too negative. Ferrari’s technology is actually leading the space/ cutting edge. In the past their road cars were always behind in performance- frequently- quite dramatically.

Example:!The 296 is dramatically better than anything that proceeded it.

It's difficult to argue with inconsistent statements, so I will stop there :p
... of course you can answer to have the last word if it pleases you.

Didn't know we were arguing - you aren't buying a VS and I am - what's to argue.
Offered you suggestions as VS did not suit you - curious what you do own that forms your opinion about the VS and what tracks you go to and what cars you run,You talk about tracks / lap times so what do you drive and what tracks

I was very critical of the VS and assumed it would be more like XX - it wasn't and realized and makes the XX more special. Can you give the "cute" remarks a rest.

Both statements can be correct. Nuance?

We're just the most devoted and obsessed group who have congregated on this one social forum to ruminate and discuss our sickness. Some believe "real" Ferrari is 60's Enzo years, some say 80's Enzo years, some say Montezemolo years... but we all got convinced by the marketing and branding about certain identities, and then those set in for what Ferrari means to us, and now we get upset when they change course or don't meet our slightly delusional expectations.

Bottom line - owners trust Ferrari and order the model by at the most a visible inspection. Some people can't handle that premise alone.
100's of pages deep - people that love to hate something they have zero experience or knowledge.
296 owners 98% posted positive - fair expectation the VS will deliver.
Some guys here who post here and on other forums - they go in n out of cars like a fast food restaurant.Ferrari's are supposed to be a reward not a ROI but sometimes it's both b/c Ferrari.

Anyone know what PNTI (iconic special colors) are for the Speciale?

True... it's a market where you have to put tens of thousands down within hours to get the hot cars, just based on stated expected specifications, some hyper-processed photos, an animation or two and a sizzle reel. Then wait 2-4 years.

People do ask me that, "Well how did you know you wanted it?" No reviews, etc. Leap of faith.

Not even on the SP4 or whatever comes in 2026?
Do you think cars will no longer evoke real emotions like TDF or Competizione?

No, not to the point of the TDF which is for me a modern 250 GTO...you can do everything with it

What do you not like at the 296 Speciale Aperta or SP3?

The logic is that there will be a mid-cycle refresh like all mid-engines going back to the 70s, with a correlating special edition: 308/288/328, 348/348SS/355/Fiorano, 360/Stradale/430/Scuderia, 458/Speciale/488/Pista/F8, etc. Stands to reason that a 296M will come out on the same platform around 2028 and in 2030 or 2031 there will be a special edition of that car.

So it should be the next generation of 296 right? Might be called something different

Totally wrong. It is called the law of the diminishing returns. When the "base" product is so good, it is exponentially harder to improve upon it.

I thought we were getting a “beautiful surprise” next year so wouldn’t you be excited about that?

I'm curious about something. When Ferrari make limited and/or numbered models, how many review cars do they make? And what about presentation/dealership cars? And are those included in the total of numbered cars?

I love the SP3 and the Icona series.
As for the rest, I don't like digital & battery-powered cars.
