Give some thought to doing it next summer! I’m working on a couple of west to east routes. I can arrange for meetups at each dealership, hotels, and maybe some track events etc. depending on how long this trip will be - thinking 5-7 days.
2026 will be a great year to drive Route 66 in its centennial year, but make plans early because it should be busier than usual. Do it in May (before school lets out) or September (right after Labor Day). I did it in September in 2019 and enjoyed the experience; the only disadvantage over May is noticeably less daylight. Do it in at least 10 days, with 14 probably being the best. And use the EZ66 Guide For Travelers by Jerry McClanahan as your "GPS". It attempts to give detailed instructions in both directions but works better going westbound. The most recent edition is 2023, but Jerry has a website where he posts any updated information.
I'd invite myself if I had a F12 or 812 - LOL. Sounds like a blast. I'll post my routes later - I always use the Harley Davidson road atlas's - they always highlight the best routes. MDS
I hadn’t considered that route but it would be cool to do too. I’ve got the Colorado Grand in early September so end of September for this could work. I’ll look at the website and see if that overlaps with the other stuff I wanted to see on the drive. I’m likely to drive West to East just because the car will be in California for car week and I want to drive back if I can sort out the details.
Mike you need a Ferrari and this drive can be the catalyst! The Harley atlas is a great idea. I don’t want to reinvent the wheel with this. Just looking to see some of the country and put miles on one of the cars.
I would love to do a big loop in a Ferrari, time it not too much heat or too much snow. Also plenty of time not to be rushed. I would have to fine tune a few priority stops, but something like this. 10,000 miles would probably add another 2,000 tempted to hit a few more "close" POI's. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Damn, that’s a hike! There’s a bunch of interesting routes to do. Circle the country like you described. Cross country a few different ways. I also was looking at one from Alaska down to South America but I’m not overly interested in the south of the border part with a Ferrari. Lots of options for driving adventure though…
