    I am leasing a place in Provence as a part time vacation home and will be keeping a French registered vehicle there, any suggestions for insurance? People tell me I need a French drivers license to obtain insurance. Merci Beaucoup!

    Suisscourtage is a broker working in France and Monaco that I have used for 15 years. They should be able to help.

    Never heard you need a French driver's licence !!!
    this is French government web site : It is CLEAR

    "Are you coming to France and wondering about the possibility of driving with your license?

    It is possible to drive in France under the cover of a license issued by a foreign authority in the following cases:
    • In case of possession of a driver's license issued by a member country of the European Union, the European Economic Area: these licenses are indeed valid in France without time limit;
    • In case of possession of a driver's license issued by another State during the first year of stay. These permits are valid in France for a maximum of 1 year"
    Ps : If you rent the car, it will be insured. If you buy one, you need to get insurance
