    Hi All,

I'm a fairly new F430 owner, and am facing the future header/manifold gamble. Nothing wrong with them at the moment thankfully, but it's the one thing with the car that I worry about in case something happens.

So I've been looking into this...and all the usual capristo/fabspeed/tubi etc come up in the conversation. These are all very expensive. Kline ones on their own aren't too bad...but then you have to do something about the heat...so investing another chunk of change in blankets etc.

At the moment, I'm considering OE related solutions that already come with the heat shielding:

    1. Brand new challenge headers...sadly the days of £600 each for this is long gone, but at £2k each+VAT on Eurospares they do solve many of the reported problems and do away with pre-cats.

    2. Quicksilver do a 'rework' of the OE headers...I've not heard of anyone on forums who have used them, but they claim to have done 400 sets with no failures. and the rework to thicker steel and better welds add confidence. These are also slightly cheaper than new challenge headers...£4000 for the pair inc VAT using my old ones as exchange.

    And then another value option:

    3. Top speed PRO-1 headers...at £1000 for a pair, are these too good to be true? I get they're not equal length, but then I gather the OE ones aren't either. Would need ceramic coating or blankets as well...but even so.

    Any thoughts/guidance would be appreciated.

    Cheers,
    J.

Having worked on many 430s, I will say that I haven't had a blown header in many many years. It looks like the bad ones have failed and been replaced.
Unless you have a very low mileage car, the headers are not likely to fail.

Hi there...interesting...my car's done 24000 miles. The headers and cats were checked by Shiltech for the previous owner in 2022 and given an all clear. There's so much discussion on here and in wider circles that seems to indicate that it's when not if. I also read that the factory exhaust brackets can cause problems for the stock headers.
