The 1972 Ferrari 365 GTC4, some info

Marcus, rather than "trust"(?) what Ferrari is "officially" claiming/listing/saying today what 356GTC/4 body style is, why not revert to the original designation found in period "official" marketing documentation/literature/etc when the car was introduced and/or sold new ?

 

OK, let me re-phrase my question as I am now curious and don't have any, but assume or at least hope you have all or most of the original (or copies of) Ferrari/factory printed marketing literature for C/4 when it was introduced new 50+ years ago.
What did Ferrari called it in those ?
A "Coupe", "Coupe 2+2" or ... ?

 

Thanks for expanding and sharing these images, including what I assume is your collection of sales literature, but it still doesn’t quite answer my question.
I’ve always known what the “GTC” in 365GTC/4 stands for, but was more curious how exactly Ferrari addressed, described or what they called its body style in their marketing literature text, etc.

I haven’t been in the “Official” Ferrari website, but now wondering what they call or describe 365GTB/4 body style to be ?
Hopefully not a Coupe.

 

berlinetta of course. lot of ranting/raving about a silly moniker/description seen somewhere. i had read the 2+2 came from the predecessor design it replaced. realistically though we dont call the porsche 993 a 2+2 even though it can optionally come with rear seats presumably for kids. and BTW to my earlier point, the 993 has seat back levers on BOTH sides of the seat back! yes the C/4 is a coupe (unless its a spider conversion). yes it has extra space and, like its predecessor, could hold a couple lil monsters, maybe.

Now let’s get deeper into the fun & games.
Since neither Coupé & Berlinetta are originally English language definitions/terms/words, I find it interesting that Ferrari uses both together with English describing body styles, while a lot of people, including Italian car enthusiasts/owners, commonly describe or refer, (let’s say, Daytona) Berlinetta as a Coupé.
So, which is what ?

 

I had read that Ferrari used C (365GTC/4) on the C/4 b/c the B was already taken by the Daytona 365GTB4 soooo as to make a distinction and not create yet another naming schema which the 365 already varied from. Question is now what to call the ~9 or so C/4 spyders that exist. 365GTS/4. Nope thats the Daytona factory spyder. Then 365GTCs/4 perhaps.

 

Well, how many of the “9 or so” C/4 Spyders were officially manufactured by Ferrari ?

 

None of course...a few done in Italy, a few by Sheehan, few by the guy in SoCal, etc. BUT unlike Ferrari, Maserati had done the Ghibli in both a coupe and spyder and seemed to been a design inspiration for the C/4 (unsure who actually designed the Maz). Point being that had Ferrari continued the C/4 they might have followed suit (18mos is a very short run). Very attractive conversions, BTW, and mine will be the 10th. Blasphemy perhaps but as a study of great design - thus my PF purchases - I think an improvement. IMHO of course.
