I recently had my windshield replaced by my local dealer and when returned the car the mirror could no longer be adjusted to the correct position to see out the back since it is hitting the trim from above the windshield and the top of the mirror is looking at the upper switch panel. It seems like the windshield is not sitting in the car correctly but the dealer is the windshield only fits in a certain way and that can't be the issue. I have asked them to compare the window install to another car, but they haven't been receptive to that issue.

I was hoping some one could post some pictures of how the windshield fits in their car so I can have a comparison to push back on the dealer more.

In particular pictures of the two upper corners and a lower corner which shows the gasket under the windshield and a picture of alignment of the mirror to the upper switch panel, like the photos I have attached.

I don't have a California but it seems like your problem is the interior trim not mounted correctly.

That was the first thought or warped and its been remounted a few times now and the gap is pretty constant to the windshield that it would be unlikely that it warped so evenly across the whole piece.

But I don't think this is the issue since the overhead switch panel is actual bolted to the window frame and is independent of the trim itself and that is now that partial blocks the mirror view when trying to get it adjusted correctly and I don't remember that before having the windshield replaced.

Does any one know if there is an extra gasket that goes around the top and sides of the windshield? I don't see one in the parts catalog besides 89758000 Windscreen glass upper gasket which is the gasket that goes from the inside door area around the top to seal the roof. I also don't see any mention of another gasket in the workshop manual instructions for replacing the windshield. I can see my car has one now, but don't have any pictures of before.

Go look at another California but your problem is that panel either mis mounted or damaged. Even Ferrari would not leave a gap like that with wires exposed.

I agree something is wrong. There was no gap until I had the windshield replaced.

I don't currently have access to another California and the dealer hasn't been overly helpful and they seem to lack an attention to detail. They haven't taken my suggesting to look at another California to compare. Also they had me pick up the car at which point I pointed this out and then held on to it for another week and a half to fix it and then flat bedded it back to me with the issue still present, with no additional communication until I pointed it out to them that it was still not fixed. Additionally, the rear of the trim was not its mounting points and the sun visors were swapped sides.

I am hoping someone could post some pictures of their car so I can start ruling out possible issues. I am thinking the windshield isn't mounted correctly and sitting to far from the frame for one reason or another which is then causing the gap to the trim and the mirror being to high relative to the switch panel which is mounted independently from the trim and bolted to the window frame itself.

I can tell just from the gap on top of the windshield it is not square since one side as a 4.3mm gap to the seal and other other side is pretty much sitting on top of it. Also I can't capture a picture of it but the glass is sitting proud of the roof line. Assuming it should be similar to the rear glass it should be butted up against the gasket with no gap and not sitting on top and the glass should be slightly recessed from the roofline.

The glass might have slight variation but it is not nearly bad enough to cause that gap on the interior.

Yes, thank you. This is very helpful that clearly shows that there should be a vertical gap between the mirror and the switch panel.
Is there any way you could also take a few pictures from the outside that show how the windshield sits in the frame?

Here are a couple of pictures for reference.
I'd never noticed this before but my mirror does touch the roof trim. At 6'5", my body does max out the seat to roof space but the mirror location works.

It looks like Will and I have the same mirror, but Jack's has a longer stem the move it further away. I wonder if there was a change over the years. Mine is a 2010.

Would you mind taking a few pictures from the outside showing how the windshield sits with regards to the gasket on the top and how it sits with the side of of the window frame?

Thank you Will! One last question. It looks the glass is just slightly recessed compared the rubber gasket on top? Mine is currently sitting just high of the gasket.
