Not just trades... solid people with a true work ethic and interest to do a top notch job is rare these days. Years ago maybe 1 or 2 out of 10 were an issue, now it is the opposite to find quality workers or work whether it be trades or professionals. Sadly, I see it daily and appears to be getting worse.

    Good day Romano.

You can find some good used 4-gas analyzers for less than $1000. I bought mine (Hand held Snap On 4 Gas) for $400 US on Ebay, but it needed a new Oxygen (O2) sensor.... that are only available from SnapOn. Snap On charges a flat rate to repair, calibrate, and to replace any of the sensors for about $250 with a 1-2 week turn around. The only negative is that the O2 sensor times out in about a year or so... which is somewhat true, as they are an electro-chemical sensor (not electronic) and so they "dry" out. The result is that you have to send the unit back yearly. The same unit, but in a 5-gas version (includes NOx), has a larger flat rate repair (about 2x that of the 4-gas version), because the NOx sensor is expensive and requires more calibration effort.

Until all of the auto sensors become electronic and in general availability, one's choices will be limited.

    Cheers,

    Sam

    Good day Romano,

In my case the SnapOn service centre is here in Canada... and relatively close (300 kms away in Calgary, AB). I contact the SnapOn Customer service, provide them with the details (product, serial number, etc) and they email me back with a quote (includes shipping to/from). If I approve, they send me a shipping label (pre-paid by them) and then package the unit up and drop it off at the shipping centre. Very simple and straightforward. A few weeks later, they ship the unit back ... Overall a very straightforward process and a reasonable price all things considered (shipping alone would easily be $50+, sensors cost at least $50+ each, rechargable battery module... easily $30+).

This is one of the few times where a large Corporate entity actually created a reasonable service framework for their customers.

    Cheers,

    Sam
