But…and who knows until you experience it, it does sound better from the outside than most recent cars. Sound has not been a letdown so far in these videos. It sounds dynamic and boomy, and being encase in carbon and glass will help in the interior.

Yes, I listened to it in passing and you're right, he said the opposite. However, I have to say that the exhaust sound is really good. When people don't like the 296 Speciale, there are few arguments in favor of the F80, which is ten times more expensive and has a much worse sound. 296 Speciale sounds better than mostly all new cars.

I agree it sounds pretty great. A 296 with an exhaust would sound better. I heard a capristo exhaust on a video, it was great. Keeps the cats too.

That's quite possible because Ferrari will most likely have to develop it for an Icona model. At least their have than an Icona, 296 XX Coupé and Spider. About 2000 Cars should fit some profit.

I would say that Ferrari's XX series is well thought out. It's quite likely that you have to own an XX to get the next XX. Similar to the Icona series.

@day355 What is your assessment? Will there be a 296 XX with a similar limited production run to the SF90 XX?

And what is your opinion of the 296 Speciale Aperta now? What role does the car play now with a more hardcore 296 challenge/XX coming?

Yeah, the capristo sounds great. Might be worth looking into.

Nothing is for sure. The media has alluded to things before that never panned out.

I would think the aperta is even more special if there’s a hardcore version. You’d want the coupe in that one.

Are you just saying that because you got an Aperta?
Because why should an Aperta be more special than a track version, where there are only 799 or 999 cars?

GTS, top up, rear window down...epic. No complaints about sound, at all. Next, take the top down.

I wonder if the differences between the 296 GTB and 296 Speciale Coupe are enough to rationalize the increase in $$. How much different in the real world (not on paper) is this cars driving experience vs the 296 Speciale? The 3 video reviews I watched so far all seemed to conclude that the Speciale wasn't the huge leap forward as they expected.

Now think about the spread for the barely used 296 GTS SF vs 296 Speciale Apera, $300k at least? I am sure most 296 SAs will be in the $700s...

All of will bring values up on 296s....

If Ferrari does the 296 Speciale XX and it looks like the 296 GT3 race cars....that will be something truly Speciale.

Interesting and hope this is correct. The dealer did not know anything about different suspensions. But I have the lifter and my order is submitted, so I will need to go with whatever the suspension is then.

Not more special than the hardcore version, I didn’t mean that. As the variant with the retractable roof and good fit to the road, I think it makes it attractive. I’m not planning to sell, so I don’t really care about the value proposition, merely the positioning. If there’s a spider version of an XX like car, then we have to see how drivable it is. You seem to really focus on the aperta for some reason, so thought I’d bring it up.

This car sounds like a V12 from inside. Very similar to the 812 in terms of engine note and transmission changes and quite different to the V8 SF90XX. I think the Speciale will be a great car. We’re down for a magnaride car with lift at the moment. We’ll use it for road trips and occasional track days. The lift is usually a must-have although our 458 Speciale doesn’t have it and we haven’t had an issue with it. SF90 AF was hard work without the lifter though.

Had this idea a while back and hoping Ferrari sees the market for it. It might be what @day355 was calling the “beautiful surprise” for next year. It could be the thing that makes all the enthusiasts go crazy. The same happened when the manual came back the Porsche GTs with the 911R and 991.2 GT3T.

What if the 296 Speciale Aperta is the most limited version of the 296, and the track hardcore version of the 296 is part of the regular product range, something like what @day355 already mentioned? Not a hybrid, but high production numbers. It would be interesting to see how something like that would develop on the market.

Weird, just because there is a "hint" of something else in the works, 296 Speciale/Aperta is now passé. Cmon folks - I for one am super excited about the car and cant wait to drive it on the road and on track. Forget about "what might be" and enjoy "what is". And to those who think slots will open because people will give up and allocation in the hope they get the XX - I am sure Ferrari will make sure they dont get an XX :)

Amen. Not a chance if you drop out. Chances are low there’s something else anyway.
