Any experience on the board. I have read a lot about the 360 but not much on the 575.
Yup, I have his Fabio exhaust version and Trev made my OEM HGTC TCU compatible with my early (pre-AN 52556) Motronic ECUs. Shifts are quicker than the straight HGTC TCU (180 ms min). Lots of power and torque, really quick shifts, and sounds magical with Fabio's 6-1 headers and cats and Superamerica HGTC mufflers, plus H pipe and SuperSprint over the axle pipe. His tune also eliminates the random CELs usually associated with header installation. Those disappeared.
What is the recommended way to contact @360trev? I've unsuccessfully DM'd him on Ferrari Chat in search of the 575 F1 ECU tune service, but he must have a different point of contact, perhaps even a U.S. distributor?
I do not have any major complaints with the F1 transmission. I go with the old thought process if it is not broken don't fix it; but my only complaint is the transmission being little jerky on downshifts as the rev matching lags behind the gear engagement. Does the Trev tune help with the throttle blipping on downshifts? Quicker shifts worry me because the mechanical parts may not be up to the task of being pushed harder thoughts? If i could just get better throttle blipping on downshifts i would be happy.
I have had it on my car (also Fabio 6:1 headers > H pipe > SS over axle > Fabio rear mufflers; same basic setup as Taz but different mufflers and soon different over axle pipes when I get around to it). It transformed my car. Much more power. Much smoother power. No CEL. I think he also codes out the cat thermocouplers from memory so no ghost signal/CEL there either (not delete per say, rather use the same method used on 599 and later cars to more reliably get a stable signal not using the temperamental thermocouplers). Honestly the TCU upgrade was even more transformative. In regular move the shifts are MUCH smoother, cleaner, less jarring/upsetting to the chassis. In sport mode same thing except must faster as well. From a technical standpoint, Trev fixed many of the bugs/errors and 'just leave it default' settings ferrari left with many of the parameters. It is less of a tune and more of the natural software upgrade the car would/should have gotten if Ferrari had actually put the time/resources to optimizing it. From a practical standpoint, I used to (privately) HATE driving my FHP 575 due to the F1 system being so clunky. It made it my least favorite/pleasent car by far to drive, particularly around town/traffic. (I even source nearly all the parts to do an OEM manual conversion as a result!). Now its actually one of my favorites and easily the most natural/intuitive/least punishing to drive briskly and have no plans on going manual at this time. I used to own a DCT equipped BMW and multiple automatics over the years. If an Automatic is 100% smooth, I would argue the DCT on my BMW was about 95% as smooth. In that context, I can say confidently that the Trev remapped/tuned 575 F1 is about 80% as smooth/good/fun/not frustrating compared to 20% as smooth/good/fun/not frustrating with the original maps. As far as durability, I would argue its better as its so much smoother* but also that's why it is set to the current settings and power level. Yes there is much more 'on the table' if more power/faster shifts/etc are demanded but you will start breaking things and the car will be near uncontrollable. If I do end up having to replace something early I will be the first to post here and share that experience with all. * I don't think that is coming at the expense of clutch life either but I dont have enough time yet to confirm/deny and again will report if that happens....
Thank you i really appreciate the review. I will reach out to Trev360 and assume this is something that can be done remotely.
Presuming the remaps are declared to insurers, did you find that they affected your premiums much? Is there a spec sheet available to allow insurers to quote? Thanks.
Our insurers could care less about what we do to our cars. You will have to ask someone else in the UK about that. Incidentally, I have never had jerky shifts in my 575M even before Trev did his magic. I have driven her over 17 years and it was not a problem once I learned how to use F1. That also includes doing F1 fluid changes every three years, along with bleeds, self-test, etc., and swapping out half the F1 fluid every year. Things are even better now with Trev's magic and no ghost warnings or CELs. Incidentally, the Auto button has never been depressed on mine. Do not even know, or care, whether it works. sammyf here on FChat is Trev's contact man in the US. I had an HGTC TCU, bought from someone who found out it would not work on vanilla 575s, and had a separate set of Motronic ECUs provided by a friend. Will likely eventually fit Fabio's mufflers, too, and sell the Superamerica HGTC mufflers.
Thanks....still working on finding one for a reasonable price...IMO, keeping cars with all of the "advanced" electronic controls on the road after 15-20(?) years is going to be more and more difficult, as ECUs, etc.become NLA.
Either 205618 or 205619 will work fine for early 575Ms. Price has been around $2K from what I have seen. I do not think they are all that complicated, just nobody has seen the need to try and update them. I know Eric copied my HGTC TCU software with no problems, and Trev even used that (and many other sources) to update TCUs and Motronic ECUs. Doubt the shock ECU is any more complicated if someone tackled it. Unfortunately, Eric got banned recently after having been a real asset to Ferrari owners. For whomever was worried about the quicker shifts harming the transaxle, the same basic hardware in the 612 was used with updated software to give 125 ms min shift time in the 2007 timeframe. Our transaxles are very tough.
My jerky shifts got much better when I started doing proper flushes (q3 years) but the remap made them like butter.
I will be needing a trev tune soon myself with supersprint headers on order and manual kit ready. Another benefit to his tune I’ve heard is a sharper throttle response and thus more thrilling acceleration. In any case, I’ve heard nothing but good things
Yes, his tune removes the slight delay with the electronic throttle and makes it feel much more like a mechanical linkage
