Short story: x431 Pro 3s+ software V11.45 wont read TCU or left engine bank, Launch tech support says they don't support the modules for them even though their software says they do.

Long story: I purchased the tablet last year and am still in my initial year of support and updates. Launch x431 Pro 3s+ V5. System now say V7 so I assume that was part of the software update.

It worked on my 2000 360 Spider with the software version V11.35.

The system prompted me to update software to version to V11.45 and like a dummy I did. It no longer will read the Airbag module (not currently an issue for me), the left bank Motronic Bosch EMS (ECU), or any of the AT modules for the TCU.

It has intermittently allowed access to the TCU through the various AT# modules but once in the access does not persist and it will not allow any of the functions such as clutch wear reading or self learn.

I have tried the Firmware fix but it does not resolve the problem.

I have spoken with their technical support and their response is that they don't support those modules. The documentation for the system says it supports all of the years and TCU (AT) modules. The previous version supported the modules. They wont backdate the software or make any attempts to resolve the issue.... Buyers beware and owners DO NOT UPDATE!

If any other users are having success with the new software I would love to hear from you.

Thanks for the notice. I have not paid for the update in 2 years and will never do. When this version gives up the ghost, I will buy something else.

Hmm, I just got my launch and it is already on that version. So far everything has worked for me, but I've been using it on a F430

Yeah, my target audience for this was 360 users as we kinda straddle the line in functionality. It seems F430 have full functionality, but early 360 have limited functions and late 360s it’s a mixed bag. Also, having a pretty terrible time working with their customer service. Nobody is willing to do the trouble shooting or remote in to even see where the issue may be coming from.

The Chinese Launch company is very limited in support, as in zero. I would like to see if iCarsoft, or some other scanners are better.

Thats one of the reasons I stay away from Launch, you never really know what you are getting. I have one of their scanners and when I was doing transmission service on a car the fluid temp I was trying to read was WAAAY off. Plugged in another Autel and it was accurate.

    Hi All,

I have the Launch X431 CR919x running Ferrari V11.35. My car is an '04 360 Spider.
I rarely get the Launch out ( thankfully ) but did after changing my fuel pumps just to be sure I had not introduced any errors. I had not.
But, I did notice this message while doing a health check:
Right Bank Motronic Bosch Engine Management System 7.3.1 Not Equipped

Andy thoughts on whether this is a Launch issue or an issue with my car. BTW, it runs great.

    Thanks,

    Russ

I know this is an old thread, but just wanted to say I have the Launch X431 PRO V (international/online seller version, purchased on amazon, support from China). It allows me to downgrade to the previous version of any auto manufacturer software upgrade right in the main upgrade screen. If you select the manufacturer, and tap the currently installed version, a dropdown with the previous version is displayed, and you can select that to re-install it.

So if you have problems with a new Ferrari software version, say V11.45, you should be able to downgrade one version. But only one.

It is of course possible that this feature doesn't exist on your Launch model, and it's possible that the software upgrade for the tool itself (you said you're on V7 something now) could have caused the problem. But it's a feature to be aware of.

The Launch China website is very useful. Once you log in there, you can download the current software version for any manufacturer, and one version earlier, to your computer or other device. You can also get a copy of the scan tool software, should you need to do a factory reset and re-install everything on the Launch tablet.

Another note is that clearing the cache on your tablet sometimes helps. The troubleshooting section in the manual has instructions for that. (Just don't do the factory reset unless you're sure you have saved everything you need, and have acquired a good copy of the Launch x431 software from the website. The instructions aren't that well translated.)

Launch did reorganize the menus a bit at some point between versions. Don't recall exactly when.

Is this the first time you've used v11.35? If so, you could try downgrading one version in the upgrade screen by selecting Ferrari and then tapping the current software version 11.35. Should see drop-down menu with the previous software version that you can select to re-install.

But is there any chance you accidentally looked at a different parameter, like "Clutch Closed Distance - Pis" in the Data Stream? Or accidentally selected the wrong TCU as you were tapping your way down through the all the menus to the PIS screen? Not trying to be insulting, because it's something I've done before.

Wyatt, did what you suggested (in the drop down went from V11.35 back to V11.30 ) and everything is working again, PIS etc, so thankyou very much for your advice, Corse
