Buying Ferrari's for decades, stupidest things I did was turn down allocation on 599GTO / F12tdf - fast forward and got XX and VS coupe.
If you want to cancel after deposit - don't expect that door to ever open again.
A limited edition Ferrari - regardless of what people post here ad nauseam is a big deal.
Buy it and enjoy it - they don't come around that often and there is never a bad time to buy a limited edition from the factory - it's the selling too soon.

 

When anything appears to be a sure thing… it’s probably the most risky. If we ever have a recession again- the last thing I would want to have to sell is a collectible car. Note: I have too many cars. And they aren’t investments. If I’m lucky- I won’t lose too much.

In a recession you should nothing sale, if thats possible.

 

Yes, I am excited and fortunate to have a Speciale Coupe allocation. No way do I need another car, but I’m taking this one for sure!

If I can snag a 12C VS allocation I will totally do that also - because I’m an addict now, apparently.

 

To my chagrin, I do not have an allocation. This is despite having purchased two cars in the last three years from my dealer and persistently reminding them of my strong interest in the car - as recently as Wednesday.

To be clear, I have no hard feelings. Disappointment, sure, but I understand their position - they have a lot of customers with far bigger collections than mine. Fair is fair. I have only good things to say about my dealer and their staff.

And so, I'm hoping for a cancellation or another wave. Cross your fingers for me!

my 5 year stint into being a pilot/airplane ownership was far cheaper than my car hobby. I guess it got me ready for Ferrari ownership haha

 

Exactly why limited editions from the factory - Challenge drivers receive limited editions which more than pays for their hobby.
Not including interest, my Ferrari's made more $ than loss, when I began buying LE's. Mac Lambo Bentley Rolls Aston cost me by not buying 599GTO F12Tdf F40 - when people say Ferrari has become too high of production too expensive to maintain etc etc look at the XX selling for 3m and Monza selling for 6m and 812A 2.5m.

 

Are XX actually selling for 3M?

Weird to argue about a 296XX whether it is road legal or not - especially when we don’t even know if it happens.

If it does, there is nothing that precludes it from being road legal.

 

No, SF90 Stradale was the production car, SF90XX is the VS car. This was the first XX street car. There was no other model in between, other than the coupe and spider variants. There was no SF90 Speciale model name.

 

Money talks BS walks. If what you state is the case , well you are not making a one off to what you want.

 

Being given the opportunity to have a one off then having restrictions negates the real worth of a one off.

 

Assuming there is a XX version of the Speciale looming...does that change the game?

When the XX hits and the 'press' declares that the Speciale XX is the true special version of the 296, what then?

I am of 2 minds, very cool that Ferrari is grinding away making so many cool cars and...sucks for owners who want to at least not lose money on their cars.

The old game was much easier:
488 GTB/ GTS < 488 Pista/ Aperta. Maybe then the Piloti.

Ferrari makes 'limited run' but their number of limited runs seems almost unlimited.

Again, its an impressive business move assuming buyers keep playing the game.

 

I just think it’s harsh to judge when we don’t really know.

 

I also think that if it works the way you describe, that's still one hell of an honor and absolutely qualifies as a custom one-off. Custom doesn't mean you get to decide everything.

If Ferrari calls me tomorrow (they won't, but if they did ) and offered me the chance to collaborate on a one-off, you better believe I'm saying yes!

 

Hard to say until we know. They definitely changed the game a bit. They used to have a V8 sports car, and a V8 GT. A V12 Sports Car, and a V12 GT; and then a supercar. Now we have a V8 Sports car, V8 GT, V6 Sports Car, V12 sports car, V12 GT, Icona, Supercar, and it surely seems they are adding an EV.

My guess is they won’t call it an XX. I am very curious to see what they do.
