Yep - I’ve followed your install and update on YouTube! This is my first step into Ferrari after a long debate between 458, 488 and F8. The warranty issues are the same with Lamborghini, but I find those sound incredible even with just a valve controller. £15k is a lot, but somewhat recoverable if it comes to selling it later down the line. I’m torn between the Novitec Sports Exhaust and standard cats, or replacing the full cat system too with sports cats.
I think the cats are hands down the most important change and make the biggest impact. Exhaust alone will be a very mild change but cats and exhaust are a whole different animal. If I had to choose, I’d go cats over exhaust. I’m about to get capeisto 250’s for my pista.
I didn’t feel the exhaust alone made much of a difference whatsoever. In fact, I felt I lost a lot of sound in the low RPM range.
I hope I don't get flamed for this as this is an F8 thread...why not get a 488? My first step into Ferrari was a 488 fairly recently. I personally think it looks amazing and IMHO better than the F8 from the back. I know many that went to the F8 feel the transmission is faster and the extra 50 hp can be felt and overall better driving/handling, but the lack of sound seems to be a real killer for many, including me. I think the 488 is a sweet spot, especially at the current prices too. You get 98% of the F8 experience with a very loud (easy to modify by plugging vacuum lines if you chose as well) stock beautiful sound. I don't shift till 6-7K rpm and I get a nice high piercing sound and low end grumble at lower RPM's and downshifts. I know it's not a 458 or any previous V8, but seems stock it is a better sounding car than the F8 as it doesn't have the GPF and you can save yourself the headache of CEL's and such. Not AT ALL taking away from F8, just my 2 cents that'll help you save $100-150K too haha.
You should talk to more of us that went from 488 to F8 and you'll be hardpressed to fine a single one that regrets it or didn't think it was worth it 100% -- and as for the looks, I disagree COMPLETELY-- especially the rear of the F8 blows away the 488
Oh I know. There's a thread about it. Looks are personal preference so to each their own. Of course you're entitled to your opinion. And I never suggested an F8 is a regrettable decision haha. Being able to own any of these cars (let alone both so congrats) is an unattainable dream for 99.5% of the population. But the post I replied to was for the person considering the 458, 488 and F8 on a thread about complaints regarding sound/exhaust/issues with modifications with the F8 and I was merely suggesting the alternative that sounds better stock, without need for modification. Enjoy your F8 in good health.
I too went from 488 to F8. The F8 is far superior compared to the 488. The 488 is a great performer no doubt. The only way to decide if you want an F8 or a 488 is to drive both then choose. I understand the sound issue on the F8 and I really don't give it a second thought any longer. The F8 performs so well I just forget about it.
