I am working on a 2006 Ferrari F430. It first presented with a no start condition. I diagnosed that as a bad immobilizer unit. Had that deleted/Bypassed in the ECU's. Now when driving I get a few warnings in the instrument cluster and it will not upshift to 3rd. I can shift into neutral and upshift to 6th and downshift normally. Multiple CANBUS faults. I would love to find some CANBUS wiring diagrams to help me continue to diagnose. Warnings in instrument cluster are for suspension and ediff. The driving mode will only select snow or slippery.

XA, YA, XR, etc, are inline connectors. The diagram is for a Scud, but should be close enough.

I believe CAN Bus problems can be caused by faulty devices (ECUs, etc) or inter-ECU wiring issues. Not sure how you'd go about figuring what is causing your issues. Maybe best to seek professional help (guys with specialist equipment)

Did you bend any pins reinstalling plugs during the delete/bypass?

If the F1 system including the ediff is of suspect..I would spend my energy looking at F1 pressures and timings ..

If you want to chat send me a PM

I think it may be quicker than trying to figure out some of the ghost CAN messages

Odds are it is a bad F1 solenoid, like Dominick said. Proper analysis with an SD3 or equivalent will tell you the answer. Mine had the same symptoms of not shifting past 2nd and it was a solenoid.

    Sorry for the delay, shop has been busy. Due to the CANBUS faults I had present. Which were;

    Transmission:
    P0600 in transmission module

    Steering Wheel System:
U1602 CAN message reception fault - B status NFR - no signal
U1605 CAN message reception fault - B status NCD - no signal
U1607 NFR fault - B status NFR - set fail bit - ECU fault

    Instrument Cluster:
    B1005 Suspensions failure
U1605 No CAN message from differential ECU received

I started by checking what I thought were the relevant fuses for every module on the CANBUS. Then I unplugged and checked the connection at every module on the CANBUS. Then I decided to check EVERY fuse in the car. Then I found PSF5, a 7.5amp fuse located in the left hand side fuse box behind the driver seat was broken. Replaced the fuse and everything is happy. Thank you everybody for the assistance, thankfully it was an easy on after all.

I am still in need of finding a sort of maintenance information as far as what to do when or any service information. This is the first and only Ferrari I work on and would love to find a good source of service information for future use.

WOW.. great find. PSF5 powers the e-Diff and Suspension ECU, but perhaps more seriously, also sends power to the alternator regulator, too. Would this cause voltage regulation issues? (overvoltage/undervoltage).

If it happens again, I would be checking the alternator wiring.

You can usually find pdf Workshop Manuals online at relatively cheap prices (although a lot of sub-chapters are missing). Wiring diagrams are a different matter. They are hard to find, very expensive, incomplete, full of errors and are sometimes hard to follow. I've tried to convert some of them into more user-friendly diagrams, but the larger ones can be quite intimidating at first glance. Here's my E-diff diagram (a work in progress like the rest of my diagrams):

You actually touch on a very good point. I've been trying to find shop manual for the F430, but have been unsuccessful, do you have any leads?

Yes i did the wheel speed and all sensors where ok, i also did suspension solenoid test and all where good, i was looking on the SD3, do you know what is the pressure sensor because i feel the clutch when it goes out of 1st it does like you would take clutch put and if you dont acelerate quickly it shuts off like i would not shift good on a manual
