Does anyone know if you can adjust the height of one side or the other of the exhaust tips at the exhaust mount spring if one side has a larger gap than the other? I just put on an aftermarket exhaust and after two attempts at adjusting the set up by disconnecting everything and putting back together, I still have one side higher than the other. I have the factory precats but put test pipes and new exhaust muffler on so that’s what I am working with. Will messing with the bolt on the bottom of this spring help the height on one side of the system? Thanks.

That's not the best approach. You need to loosen all of the (spherical) exhaust joints in the system -- i.e., the muffler is mounted to the chassis and the headers are bolted to the engine (those are "fixed" locations) -- then the interconnecting pieces (precats and cats) are what get moved around slightly to join them and absorb all of the tolerances between those fixed locations -- then those exhaust joints are tightened. (Of course, those joints, bolts, and gasket may be crispy critters, and may need some clean-up work and/or new donut gaskets -- you didn't think it would be easy did you ;).)

Thanks Steve. I did start tonight at the precats and then loosened every bolt on the test pipes to the muffler so everything was loose. Actually removed the test pipes and reinstalled them. Looked like I was making a bit of progress but as I tightened things up it went right back (maybe the gap is even a little worse on the right side) but it was getting late and I called it quits. New donuts were used so guess I should just loosen the connections on the test pipes and try it again. Sort of driving me crazy!

‘Oh, and while I have you, I followed your advice on getting a 3/16” steel rod to try and pop open the deck lid since the right side won’t unlatch. Unfortunately, it’s not working and the emergency cable isn’t much help with so will try and shove my arm up to the bracket while the rear valence is off and see if I can manually trigger it that way.

when you only put the muffler on with those holders without connecting to the exhaust system does the muffler then looks right in place?

Always possible that the aftermarket muffler is just mismade, and needs "correction/modification". As romano suggested, if the muffler when just mounted (hung) by itself, and then held gently to rotate the tips into place, is wacky = that's a problem. There should be some up-down adjustment in the "forks" -- item 11 here:

to make side-to-side tip height adjustments, but the spring support assemblies shouldn't need to be modified.

‘Hi Romano, yes, once I removed the test pipes and just had the muffler hanging solo it looks right. So it must be the angle of the test pipes connected when bolted together and tightened down that is causing the unevenness. At least that’s all I can think of.

I am going to attempt one more time to adjust some movement on the test pipes and see if I can get any closer to it being even. As I mentioned to Romano, when the muffler hangs by itself, everything looks even so it must be the test pipe connections causing it to be off. You could be right that maybe one of the pieces (muffler or test pipes) could be just off a bit but hoping I can find a solution that works. I will also look at the forks for adjustment if all else fails. Thanks all for the help.
