So my AGM battery has died and I'm replacing it with an Antigravity lithium one and have 2 questions:

    1) The copper nut on the inboard upper hold down bar appears to be impossible to get to and undo without removing the trim panel blocking access to it. Is it not necessary to remove that nut to replace the battery?
The flashlight is on the trim panel. I suspect it has been removed before because the screw is a little scratched.

    2) How important is it to supply voltage to the car during the swap? If you don't, is the resetting of the electronics a big deal?
For those of you who did supply voltage, did you use the 12V power outlet, the OBD socket, or other?

    I replaced my 488’s battery last month, here is what I learnt;

It is not necessary to remove any trim. You do need to loosen the copper nut. There is one on each side at the top of a metal stay.
You need a deep socket to do, but you do not need to remove it completely, in fact I’d recommend you didn’t.
Once the nut is sufficiently loose you can wiggle the stays forward and unhook them from the bottom holding plate.

Replacement is a little more difficult. The side metal stays can be recalcitrant.

Regarding power, I decided not to keep the car powered, even though my CTEK provides that facility.
I did follow the process in the manual, there is a sequence of trunk and door locking an unlocking. Resetting things was not a big deal.

It is not necessary to supply power during the battery replacement; after the new battery is installed, one just needs to follow the reset procedure as described in the manual.
You probably know that, but with a Lithium battery you will not be able to use the standard conditionner, as far as I understand.

The only other tip I’d give is to install a standard ctek tail on the battery terminals while you are there in case the magnetic one at the back of the car ever gives you grief. And yes, as @LVP488 has mentioned you will need a new charger for a lithium battery.

My (newer) 3 amp version of the Battery Tender has a Lithium setting. Does that work OK?

I have everything off except the positive pole, which is trapped behind and below the black metal bar. You can't slide the battery out from under it the bar and you can't lift the connector with its black plastic cover assembly off the battery because it extends below the bar. The black metal bar does not appear to be meant to be removed, as I can't see its attaching fasteners. Solution? (I was able to disengage the left J hook from the top brace from the hole behind the battery after everything was out, so I didn't need to loosen the copper nut that was impossible to get to.)
    Thanks in advance

The black cross brace is attached with 2 screws, 1 on each end. The bar has to be removed. The black cover over the positive terminal pops up. There are 2 clips on the left side which need to be pushed in.

I hope you opened the windows half way before disconnecting the battery or at least have both doors open ?

Manual would have told you that.

Not sure about Lithium battery, but AGM batteries have a side vent hole on the positive terminal side. There is a vent hose that is inserted into the battery’s vent hole via a plastic elbow connector and the other end of the hose inserted into a hole in the back of the battery compartment area to vent the gas outside during charging. The vent hose will be disconnected when you slide the old battery out. Easier to insert that hose back into the hole in the back of the compartment and then into the new battery’s vent hole before hooking up the connector with its black plastic box onto the positive terminal.

I just replaced my battery due to age yesterday (6 years old). What a pain! (physically to my body, lol)
    I have one question...
My car has this tab that sticks down (behind the black cross bar) near the positive battery terminal. It is exposed once the crossbar is removed. I believe it's the bracket to hold the start/stop battery power management computer (or whatever Ferrari calls it). The weird part is that it's floppy, and seems to have only one bolt on the bracket, and the tab sticks down, and has a big hole in it. It doesn't seem to attach to anything. Without the cross bar in place, it moves freely and flexes so the whole computer shakes! but with the cross bar in place, it puts a little pressure on it (it pushes up against it and pushes the tab towards the front of the car), so it is somewhat secure. I looked online, but it seems like some cars don't have it, so not sure why?
I hope this makes a little sense. Did anyone notice the same thing? if you have the bracket on your car, was it the same as I described, or is something missing, from the last guy that did the battery change on my car?

I just checked the Owners Manual for my F8 and there are no instructions for replacing the battery. Does someone have the startup procedure after replacing?

It's a little tough now. I didn't think to take a picture, so now I would have to take that cross bar off again, and it's a pain. I was hoping that someone knew what I was talking about because they had the same experience / issue. When the cross bar is off, there is a tab that sticks down, and almost hits the battery on the + side of the battery. You can't miss it if your car has it and you do a battery change. It also feels loose, which is why I questioned it in the first place.

I did a battery change but didnt notice anything dangling ? Maybe its been replaced before and they unclipped something ?

I doubt that even though our batteries are on the other side anything would be different but I do know there was a change in the brackets between the first year 2015 and when i got mine in 2018.

That guy with a you tube video putting a lithium battery in his 488GTB is different to mine. He is here on Fchat.

Thanks for the video. Apparently, the car in the video doesn't have the computer that mine has. I don't see the bracket or the computer. If you look at the video at 21:35, you can see that there is nothing above the positive battery cable, above the black cross bar. That's the area where you would see the bracket for the computer hanging down. The bracket isn't loose, it's just "wobbly" when you push on it because it looks like there is only one bolt that holds the whole bracket assembly on. It seems like a bad design. There is this tab with a hole that hangs down and doesn't attach to anything, that's why it seems weird. In the parts breakdown, the bracket I'm referring to is Part# 33 (the bracket on the right (there seems to be two number 33 parts), you could see the tab that hangs down)

The video isn't a 458, it's a 488. He says it before he enters the car, you can see it as he approaches, and you can see the emblem on the dash as well as the floor mats.
