Hey, 3X8 guys/gals. I have an 89 328 and would like to replace the door speakers. Does anyone have a suggestion as to the proper speakers to buy?
    Thank you for your help.

Depends entirely of what you have in mind, Ken .And if you listen to radio/music or not.
I have the original tape deck unit in my '89 GTB, a Pioneer KEH-5060B, which was a gift from the original french importer, Charles Pozzi. It works fine but I don't use it, I tend to get distracted very easily, so no chance. A few months ago, I turned it on for the first time in years, and one speaker was dead; had both checked by my shop, turned out that the original speakers' membranes had rotten and turned to dust. Got a pair of JBLs instead, don't even know the reference, but it works fine and that's enough for me: for me, and for what I do with the speakers: turn them on once a year or so.
But shoud you be a stickler for originality, the OEM ones (= "Autosonik") are still available, at about 50 dollars apiece.
Then, if you really are an audiophile, the sky is your limit, or rather the door aperture, which accepts speakerss up to 6.5 inches in diameter without having to cut the door's metal. The main problem is rather the lack of depth.

The best speakers are no speakers. If you have a proper muffler, such as a Tubi, you won't be able to hear the radio anyway.

I know, I know...but you did ask for suggestions. :D

    I did ask - :) Thk you. I'd love to get a 355-sounding muffler on my 89 328. I don't think anyone makes one.

70-80s rock, Lord of the Rings soundtrack, Strong theatrical pieces, and the City of Prague Philarmonic Orchestra. I'm all over the place.

I just bought this Capristo valved system, they sound amazing on the 355 and here's a vid on a 328, wish he kept his foot in it longer but it gives you an idea, not cheap however.
