Because the Cartier Foundation has moved and opened a new museum, they are delving into their history and have clearly decided to pay tribute to their greatest moments. This Ferrari exhibition has an absolutely mythical dimension in France (we are obsessed in France with Ferraris with red Cartier interiors, and there is undoubtedly a good reason for that...).
I don't see the problem with reissuing such an important exhibition catalog for those who didn't have the chance to experience it. In my opinion, it's a good thing.

I first bought the earlier edition that had Peter Collins, driving, on the cover, but later bought the Cartier edition, which I still own. The Cartier edition had a substantial increase in the number of illustrations (posters, mainly).

Looks like a fine book, but: three languages (takes the graphic design hostage), and unfortunately limited to 330 copies, which leads to a price of 350 euros :( Why can't these books be produced with larger circulation at a moderate price ...

Presumably the publishers believe they will get a better return from 330 books at 350 Euros than more at a lower price. Unfortunate for us, especially as it is something publishers seem to be doing more often and I'm sure many potential buyers are priced out or obliged to choose between one high price book or another.

As for the multiple languages, it isn't ideal but then you generally buy a McKlein book for the pictures and the text is a bonus. From the sample pages, in this case, the text looks to me somewhat mundane. Maybe a useful reference rather than something you want to sit and read in one sitting.

Incidentally, one of the sample pages is headed Presentation 1963 and the track surface at Monza looks very strange. Was it being resurfaced at that time?

McKlein has a huge stock of photo's, Christmas is coming, so they say let's do a nice picture book, not too much text, and three languages instead of three editions. And, of course it's limited to 330 copies, so folks will run to get hold of a copy of this 'collector's item'. Defunct publisher 'Automobilia' did this kind of thing for many years. It's marketing, right?

It did not end very well for Automobilia though.

Curiously, the foreword for this new book was done by Nino Vaccarella in 2021, the year he died.
