I have chased this through the forum for weeks, to no avail. I'm in the middle of a reupholstering and recarpeting folly on the QV. The carpet on the rear firewall tucks under the parcel shelf. There are apparently 3 studs holding it down, but access to them is behind a panel in the engine bay, under the rear screen. This panel appears to be held in by three nuts and large washers on three long studs, but removing the nuts doesn't seem to loosen anything up. Are there other fixings I've missed? I have also read that there are rivets that require the side glass to be removed for access on some cars - I really don't want to think about that :(

The middle hold down comes out then you have a left and right half to lift out. They sit on top of the trim that covers the vertical wall under the back glass. Remove the two seatbelt anchors of course then the two pieces lift out. 3 studs in total with large washers.

Ooops, I think you are asking about the aluminum panel in the engine bay to access the parcel shelf studs?

That's the best picture I've seen.

On my car there is a metal cover over that area. How does that piece come off?

That's what I'm asking. Maybe it goes down a bit further and the pipe brackets bolt through it. I've got a fabric insulating material that obscures things a little - it's from a 328, not sure if the QV had it.

Ive never taken that heat shield off with an engine in the car, that could be fun. There's no secret fasteners.

Push the studs in with the back of a screw driver, the panel you are removing is fiberglass, I can snap a picture if and when I get off the couch. Mine is stripped down to fiberglass because- racecar

Far be it from me to stop you from channeling your inner couch potato! The Frankenferrari motor is almost ready, so I might wait until then. In the meantime, I'll go ahead with the re-upholstering, but it will look funny with the door carper not matching until the carpets get done.
