Hi guys, so i am now looking into fitting a new audio system, as some may know i do not have the car in my possession atm as it's going in for paint for a couple of months. As i understand it 6.5" will fit into the doors, however has anybody measured the maximum depth allowed before the speaker interferes with the window? Also can anyone tell me the diameter of the hole and possible depth for the tweeters in the dash?

Looking at these right now, but if the matched tweeters do not fit and the door speakers do i might have to find another component system since i imagine they put a fair bit of work in getting the balance perfect which probably reflects the price, ouch. Probably going for the retro Blaupunkt Bremen head unit. Crossovers will likely be mounted either side of the trunk if this system works. Then possibly a slim amp somewhere else, not sure where yet.

Just an update, after doing some more research and talking to some audio hifi specialists, it appears the these driver units are just ridiculously priced, the guy i talked to literally coughed, stuttered and asked me to repeat the p..p..price lol He build's top tier home speakers and sells Morel driver units. I had a feeling these components couldn't be 4 times better than the next level down the chain of car audio brands and now i have confirmation. Still need those measurements though if anyone knows. Cheers.

Good luck finding space for the crossovers and the amp.

I have an Alpine ktp445 powerpack thing squeezed under the centre tunnel trim on the drivers side, an Alpine head unit, some upgraded tweeters, Alpine 6.5s in the doors and a pair of rears I made from some very small Sony Home Theater drivers in cylindrical pods I made & covered in leather to match the rear shelf

I used to have a sub in the passenger footwear but I took it out. The amp for that went on a board that fit inside the spare wheel, also now gone.

Long story short, car audio in a 328 GTS is a bit useless unless you run it at ear bleeding volume. I spent a long time messing about with it including fitting Dynamat in the doors & on the floor. It was a fun project but ultimately all a bit pointless!

Yeah i feel ya, but then again i used to have a 66 mini with 6x9 pioneers on the rear shelf, now admitedly the boot underneath is the perfect size for a speaker enclosure but the car is built like a tin can, no sound deadening and a pretty raucuse engine, gearbox and fruity exhaust (RC40) and i did turn it all the way up, it had those rear windows that flip out on a hinge at the back, right next to the rear shelf i used to practically start block partys on the streets of new york, try listening to "Atmos - Random Landlord" and you'll get an idea where i'm coming from although my taste in music is pretty eclectic in general. Sometimes i like to crank the volume above talking level and just cruise with the tunes bangin.

Passenger footwell is where the PO of my former QV GTS had the power amp mounted with dimensions that - just eyeballing it - seemed comparable to the morel amp listed above. Ironically, I had that car almost six years and turned on the stereo exactly one time....to check that the power antenna was working properly when I was getting ready to sell it! :p
