That car sold for $600k today on BAT. A yellow one in Japan with same 18k miles is still for sale 62m Yen ($424k USD today's rate). A black 4k mile one in Japan wanted 98m Yen when I asked them 2 months ago...still available so maybe the ask has gone down.

True but color is a huge impact on these cars; seems that the least desirable are yellow and silver. Purple, orange, white, and blue (all other things being equal) tend to command more of a premium.

I don’t know how the market reacts to black/green/reds.

With my Andromeda car a 1 of 4 (plus last I checked, one of those 4 was shipped to Europe, so down to only three here), there just have not been enough sales to see if there’s any premium for red.

WTH? No offense intended but Yellow is the Ferrari red equivalent of the Diablo era.....VERY popular as a skittles color, which is a big deal for Lamborghini colors

Look at the way the pearl metallic shines, it kills at car shows

I actually stopped by to see the yellow one in Japan. I was not impressed with the condition of the car given what they are asking for it.

Apples to oranges; on non-6.0 completely true. I’m talking about 6.0 only, not VT/roadster etc. For the 6.0 maybe it’s a production issue? I would argue orange is ‘the’ 6.0 color. They did have a very different spread of colors. Ultimately it’s a market question - see the median sale prices vs the other colors. Happy to be wrong.

I figured it was supply being more yellow than the others. Is yellow not the most common?

Thanks for that info. What in particular stood out? I will be in Japan in Dec and was thinking of driving to see it if still for sale (probably will be at this rate). I'm wondering if we are getting to the point any driver car of this age is best off being restored both mechanically and cosmetically so purchase condition may not matter as much although price still would of course.

While it is fair to say orange carries a premium because it was the new color for the 6.0, fine I agree with that (just like metallic green is for the Audi cars). But listing yellow as "least desirable" is flat out wrong for any model from the Diablo to present day

Ok then carrying “less a premium” is better terminology based on historic data I had seen when I last looked into this earnestly a few years ago. Of course I welcome correction with objective data.

    The long way home
I'd liken yellow on a 6.0 to Rosso Corsa on a Ferrari... May not bring the same premium as some more rare shades, but also higher value than others.

Agree that's why mentioned the “less a premium” is a better terminology.

I should note, I have nothing personal against yellow at all. Quite the contrary, I flew half way across the US to (almost) buy a yellow 6.0 when I was looking. The pearl is heavenly in particular as anyone with working eyes can attest.

What? Yellow is more or less the Lamborghini equivalent to red on Ferrari in the Diablo era and is a GREAT color on them

To be honest that particular diablo had a very pretty pearl yellow to boot. Would be tragedy if was repainted.

Makes sense to me as imo it's the best and final variant of the Diablo, which is one of the most iconic cars of all time. Not to mention it looks amazing in that color without wing with well done photos. With F50s going near $10m and we have 430 and 458 Spiders going for low 1m currently...sub 900k for this seems still a way better value and undervalued.

To add info about Diablo values in general, this near delivery mile '91 sold for $434k USD not including buyer fees: https://www.broadarrowauctions.com/vehicles/dg25_r0065/1991-lamborghini-diablo

And that's relative to these blue chip cars from the same auction that happened today:

    2010 GT3 RS for $210,800: https://www.broadarrowauctions.com/vehicles/dg25_r0057/2010-porsche-911-gt3-rs-clubsport
    2009 16M for $546,600: https://www.broadarrowauctions.com/vehicles/dg25_r0046/2009-ferrari-scuderia-spider-16m
    2016 911R for $322,400: https://www.broadarrowauctions.com/vehicles/dg25_r0009/2016-porsche-911-r

Prices in US for those last three are higher so not unexpected for same for Lambos here vs overseas.

I havnt been following prices and didn’t realize how crazy $$$ F50s have become! I recall seeing the infamous algar F50 when it was on sale for under 700 back in the early 2000s…and my god when did all those become so pricey!

The only explanation I have for these limited Fcar prices shooting up is Ferrari corporate increasing buyer demand by requiring (not in writing) via dealers that owners for new limited hypercars need collections with them. Those buyers are basically billionaires. If you want a slot for the next hypercar or some SP car, you need the 5 halo cars, Speciale, 16M, maybe some 250 variants, etc, etc. Reading about it gets ridiculous, but it is a way for the brand to prop up their own used car market and the classiche thing, parts/service department, etc.
