With the last manual Ferrari being a couple examples of the 2012 California.

Ferrari enthusiasts excitement would be at an all time high if news broke out Ferrari is brining back the gated manual.

Considering the fact that Ferrari limited specialty vehicle sales do very well such as 812 comp, SP3 and many more.

It would not be considered unrealistic for Ferrari to see these incredible payouts for these cars and say " You know what? If the consumer is willing to spend & demand is there, why not bring back the gaited manual into a limited production car + Incredibly large base price & raise our profits?"

    So that begs the question-

Would Ferrari ever bring back & produce a modern gated manual Ferrari?

And if so why haven't they planned to do so already?

How many manual Ferrari threads do we need !!!!!

It feels like there's already several live discussions resulting from last week's investor update let alone all the previous ones.........

I would only be interested if they made the entire car retro. It does not make sense to me to have a modern car (traction control, torque vectoring, regenerative breaking, whatever) and then have antiquated technology (stick shift) right in the center of it. My daily is a stick (mid 2000s 911) and it makes sense because it fits the car.

I disagree, when they realise people are paying massive premiums for manual cars they will want a slice of that pie for sure. My guess would be the EV will be followed by a pure drivers car with a manual gearbox because it seems that would be the only logical idea to atone for the EV.

I suppose Ferrari will bring back the gated manual at the same time as Porsche will go back to air-cooling for the 911 (Porsche has also a strong case, given all the ultra-expensive restomods for 964 and 993)...

IIRC emission and sound restrictions had a lot to do with the end of the air cooled. Restomods don't have to deal with those same pesky governmental regulations.

Only for a special limited edition where probably its the only way you get the car is with a manual. No auto. But I think they will.

IMO government regulations may be the obstacle more than engineering.

If they do, it will be the most talked about and the most exciting Ferrari they will have produced in the last 20 years, if not more. I wonder how many of you gentlemen would agree ?

If Ferrari brought back manuals to all of their cars there would be an initial spike in manual purchases, but in 2 years people would be ordering almost all automatics and manuals would be down to 5% or less... again.

Well, I did not mean all of their cars, just maybe an option for the rendering that I posted up .Or make it a manual only gearbox. If they made said car, it would sell like hotcakes !!

Manuals are not performance transmissions any more. The regulatory and performance parameters demanded of a modern car have essentially eliminated the manual in all the price ranges.

There's 70 years of back catalog with a stick. Look to the future with 12 speed triple clutch rocketships.

I dont think motors that spool up so fast that a manual gearbox would not work are necessary . I read in a car magazine a long time ago where the author of an article regarding the 458 , mentioned that it would be even more fun if it had a 6 speed manual gearbox. Im not saying that at this point in my life I would not want a semi auto transmission . I think the technology is so over the top these days with sports cars, no matter who makes them . I think Mr. Leno really likes the Nissan 370 Z with the manual , its an analog car for sure. The 458 and or the 488 would be so welcome in my garage.

Especially with the younger buyers not knowing how to drive manual. That desire for a manual is for older buyers who have experience with manual or collectors

Also Gordon Murray is getting more manual requests than he imagined.

Im happy and grateful for the manual Ferraris that have come out over my lifetime . Like I previously mentioned, I dont think they will produce anymore manual gearboxes. What I would like to see, is a center console gearshift lever, old school paired up with a semi auto gearbox. Shifting old school with your right hand clicking through the gearbox , I really dont understand why Ferrari does not ditch the paddles and go with a traditional shift lever on a new example . I think it would be a big hit ! They have been churning out paddles for 30 years (355). Its about time they change things up.

Yes. I think there is a decent probability that the manual transmission comes back at very least in icona
I actually think it is extremely likely.

    The world has shifted.

Profits are under strain. Ev/electrification has cratered in demand as well as penalty under laws across the world.

It's time to sell cars again.

There isnt a point in bringing the manual back when they don't have an issue selling current cars with updated technology.

Look at the SP3, still fetches millions over MSRP so whats the point in making a manual slower version...
