Alpine A110's are really great, but I would miss a special engine. It has a simple 4-cil engine. Which also has its pro's of course. Porsche 997.1 GT3 is high on my list to replace my GTB QV. Still analog, with hydraulic steering, manual and the Mezger engine. Other option: Aston Martin V12 Vantage (manual). The smallest AM, with the biggest engine.
F40 I would love to just ride in one. Lancia Stratos, very timeless design. Pantera, maybe I know this one doesn't count but a 308 GT4 with the Dino badges as it should be. Although I may sale my Exige and get one. I am kind of attached to the Exige.
I had a 308 and 328 for about 25 years. I sold the 328 on trade for a 599. Happy that I did so. While I loved the 328 ( less so the 308 - I had a challenging one) the 599 is much more usable in a big city. I was getting to the point of not driving the 328 because it was just such a pain to use. getting stuck in bumper to bumper traffic is not fun, and the roads in Atlanta are challenging on a good day. I got to have the FCA 50th anniversary 599 for about a month, and really loved how usable it was... and astonishingly fast.... its not as good looking at the 308/328 series, but it makes up for that in usability, good AC and my wife likes it much more..... I would like an F8 - but the prices just are outrageous... Roma is a possibility...maybe an 812 someday, but fundamentally the 599 is about as fast as all the others, and just as comfortable... with out all the modern electronics.
I honestly don't see "replacing" my 328. Yah, I could do a 360 spider 6-speed. But I like the the 328's looks better. But there are two things that the 328 lacks so I decided on a supplement to it. There are 2 things that I feel could have been better. One is, its not a true convertible. Yes the roof comes off and I like that, but its not the open air feeling I like that you get from a 360 or 430 or 458 spider. The other is the engine. Its a fine engine. But IMO, it lacks a bit of personality. The Dino before it has all kinds of drama and personality. The 458 at 9 grand is amazing. But the 328 doesn't really have the sound, fury, or zing of the others before it or after it. And it turned out to be this. 5 speed, twin cam Dino engine, true convertible -- and very old school simplicity. No computers, no electronic gauges, no luxury features. Just a small car with a lot of character and seat of the pants driving. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
If you consider the question of "replace" as meaning you want a car that fills the same niche as the 308 rather than just going a completely different direction and switching to a cushy continental cruiser then I would probably choose an Alfa 4C and a valid reason for doing so would be if my left knee went out.
