Bait. Those who endlessly talk up the market are obviously 'correct' when the market is going up. I follow the data and look at things on aggregate.

The market has indeed been going up recently for the F40. But consider that the two record Monterey 2022 F40 sales are $4,348,000 and $4,228,000 in today's dollars, and yet for some people the F40 market never stopped 'rising' the last 3 years...

Mecum Kissimmee 2026 should set new records, if the cars' conditions are commensurate with their mileage. Record-low mileage at auction for US-spec cars.

 so now we have to quote prices in present value dollars vs earlier this year value dollars or last year value dollars?
    why stop there?
let me help you make your arguemnt......in pounds sterling prices have probably remained stagnant for the last 4 years. therefore F40 prices have not gone up at all :)
    whatever.

dont get your panties in a twist though, i am just ribbing you, and others on this thread :)

frankly i think the whole discussion has become pointless since in isolation the present values of the cars mean little, and can be manipulated by whoever is trying to prove a point.
at the end, as the saying goes, its all relative....
the value of the f40, regardless of time or currency, can only be evaluated by comparing it with other cars that have some kind of similar currency - ie all the ferrari halo cars, or all super/hyper cars of the last 40 years etc.

As ever you get what you pay for.. if u want genuine 5k, total provenance, original then the auction route is not the right area to buy.. 90% of the cars that have issues find this the only area to sell a car to a un educated buyer.. that’s why prices and sales are generated privately.. Its not rocket science ..

The listing on RM has changed to Asking 2,400,000 GBP. Most likely the chandelier could not wire the funds in time!

The RM London F40 did not sell. The auctioneer did not say 'sold' and he didn't collect a bidder number either. The hammer falls regardless at many auctions.

in germany it is usual that when the hammer falls it is sold to the highest bidder. otherwise if it is not sold the hammer not fall and after the 1st turn of the auction all what not has been sold is getting again just after this first round of bidding to the next bidding. so I´m used to an auction here.

There has been a couple of off market transactions recently have broken all records recored that I am aware off.. numbers range for a F40 in the high 4's... F50 in the early 9's and if it closes in this week above 10 for a 288... these have all been off market cars.. all grade A and perfect no questions asked... The market is moving and this is just the start of the next leg up... In the last month I have inspected 6 cars of which only one was suitable and was bought.. the rest were rejected.. The spread between Grade A and everything else is getting larger.. Buy the best if budget allows if not go look down the curve for the best in that class.
