    The buckets go up and down nicely; however, the lights turn on when the buckets are closed, pointing downward. Then they turn off when the buckets are up and open. WTH?

    Check and replace all the appropriate relays before you do anything else.

    Thanks Alden for your reply. Relay position E - 15006 was bad.

    I'm glad you took my advice, so many times people start tearing into motors or linkage and other things without checking the easiest, most basic things first, 95% of the problems with our early cars can usually be traced to something electrical, and the relays are the easiest part to service, cheap too.
