Hi All - so I've heard many times that the F430 muffler can be modified to put on a 360. Is the reverse also true? So I've seen a few tasty exhaust systems for 360s...Capristo's etc...on eBay. Nothing for F430s on there sadly...so could I fit the cat back its to my 430 with some modification? Or is it too different to be practical?

    Thanks.

Why not just get something that's made to fit the 430?

The only reason people modify f430 oem mufflers to fit the 360 is that they are extremely close to a CS muffler without the price tag. An oem 360 muffler is a 70 lb boat anchor.

If you are going to be getting an aftermarket muffler anyway, why bother modifying a 360 one?

Thx guys. It’s availability and price really. I’m not a wealthy person and I’ve just about managed to buy the car with contingency fund for problems. So while I want a capristo system, buying a new one for £6000 is not practical. if there was a used 430 system for sale anywhere I’d buy it. What I’m looking at is (in this case) a 360 capristo cat back system in at £2500. If I could make that fit then it would be a result. Hence the question ;)

The box will fit, but the tail pipes would be to short/ narrow for 430, just run the stock muffler until you find a decent prices used muffler, or save for a new system

Honestly, you are better off spending the $2500 on a top speed system, while it's no Capristo, for the price, their stuff isn't bad, and it should bolt right up with no issues.

The way the exhausts for both cars bolt up to the Cats are the same. The tailpipes are different lengths however. Will need to extend the 360 ones to fit an F430. 360 tailpipes are shorter.

That's an easy mod (tailpipes) and I'd do it in a heartbeat. Used Capristo systems are a dime a dozen right now for 360s and if all you need to do is mod the final pipes, then it's a bargain.

For the record, I paid $1500 for mine.

Just understand that the stock F430 system is better quality than any aftermarket system and has much more heat shielding material in it. The Capristo will cook everything in it's wake so be sure you shield wires, etc. if and when you install it.

Also, since I drive mine many hours per week on the highway, it's clear that these systems are not made for extended use. You'll need to torque down all the bolts and re-align it occasionally (I had mine professionally installed by a Ferrari shop, btw). The heat, noise and vibration are the key reasons why people surrender them, according to former owners. Oh, let's not forget that I had to retain a lawyer to fight the HOA. They are trying to ban the car due to a "nuisance" clause in the bylaws.

Another example - so my friend just bought brand new Capristo test pipes off FB marketplace for $400 shipped lol. He's marrying them to his CS setup. Great buy over list price, but I couldn't do it. I never thought I'd say this but it would be TOO MUCH!

What's really funny is when you look at this design. The inlet connects directly to the inside exhaust tube with a Y connection to the muffler, which little (if any) exhaust will ever see without a valve. I don't see valves.

Translation - the muffler is strictly for looks lol. Run it for an hour and I bet that muffler will be ice cold!

I'm not going to lie, the Chinese exhaust systems (many have hit the market under various names in the last 2 years) look great and look well crafted for the money, but the jury is out on what sound you can expect. Coincidentally, many of their buyers check the time at the intersection and wonder how long there's been two "L"s in the word "Rolex."

People here have been using them without issue, but yes, not much is making it's way through the muffler. i think most are just running the muffler only, not the tips/connection.

Just be patient and you’ll come across a deal. In the meantime, the stock system is really good. Maybe just get a valve controller to enjoy the pass through. It’s honestly nicer than a lot of the aftermarket ones.
