I am wondering if this original document might be of interest to the owner of 5149/GT
as it is the original Homologation Document for this car, and for the series of the 250 LM.

In other words there are not any other copies flying about as this, is THE one that came from the

archives of the Automobile Club D'Italia. Unless I am very mistaken, then, never mind.

    Just curious.

    Regards,
    Alberto

Alberto I believe that this is a copy the homologation paper for the Type; 5149GT was the car submitted for certification. I don't know how many copies of these documents were created in period by the FIA?

By 'copy' do you mean one of many originals, as in 1 of the 1000 of Dyke's book on the SA? This one is not FIA, but ACI.

It would make sense to have more than one, as photocies in the day where not at the Staples store next corner.
Yet, it may be interesting to hear from someone that owns a similar copy(es) of the same booklet for any other 'special' car.

    Thanks for the comments!

    Regards,
    Alberto

I believe that Ferrari tried to qualify the LM as an amendment to the existing 250 GTO homologation; this was declined.

The GTO, being a Gran Turismo, and the LM, a Competizione?

The LM was originally submitted for homologation as a GT car like a GTO, SWB before that, the Cobra, etc. The FIA denied that.

Since this copy shows "Nazionale" this would indicate that this is the document submitted after the FI's rejection when Ferrari resubmitted to the Italian Club for homologation under the Italian rules. I do believe that the Italian Club accepted the LM for their races but that did not change the no-FIA acceptance. So, in FIA races the LM had to run as a prototype car.

Hello Jeff, I think you are right, as NAZIONALE, means just that, otherwise INTERNAZIONALE, as this doc. is also FIA, may have been included.

Yet, knowing Italy, and Ferrari ...

I will ask my friend in Torino, Edoardo Magnone and see what he thinks.

    Kind regards,
    Alberto
