488 vs F8 Tributo

    Pista prices today make the F8 a future collectable, assuming no more mid engine v8

    F8s have been slowly creeping up as well. I've sold two in the last four months - a 2021 Tributo and a 2022 Tributo. Both sold quickly at north of $350k and north of MSRP.

    My logic with the F8 being a bargain is the "if you had bought a Pista a few months ago". Do you have a time machine? If not, an F8 today at $360k is 90% of the driving experience for half the money (or less) of a Pista.

    Like I said, the Pista is the better car, but I don't think they're worth 2x the money unless you're just buying it to watch it sit in the garage and appreciate.

    There is a law of diminishing return - and there are points of view supporting both directions in all cases: a Pista is twice the price of an F8 - that does not tell it's not worth it; the same way an F8 is significantly more than a 488 and considering whether it's worth it or not is purely subjective (or, rather, depending on the point of view), in spite of the F8 being objectively better.

    If you are only talking about point of diminishing returns, I'm thinking that the 488 wins hands down. But we are enthusiasts and sometimes willing to pay a lot extra for a little better. I'm in the process of struggling with this because the F8 has my attention lately, lol

    Yesh you’re absolutely correct re miles having a more significant impact on VS cars but you’re also operating from a much higher price point if you bought in before they started appreciating significantly.

    PS- You nailed the F8 touring comment. Nail on the head

    I went with the tributo over the spider for the rear lexan eng cover love the f40 design if your in the market for a f8 get one it’s almost perfect minus exhaust note but everything else it delivers you forget about the exhaust noise

    That is right Half . Thats why the PISTA is a collectable and the F8 just like any other normal Ferrari isnt. And before anyone jumps up neither is the 488GTB

    2X yes because they have gone north in pricing . When new there was only about 10-15 % dearer.

    You F8's as per all your other cars were not specced lightly.

    What does being 'collectible' have to do with anything? The reason a Pista becomes collectible is because it's a VS. But being collectible is just one small reason why people buy these cars... and it's the LEAST amount of owners that do it.... The F8 and the 488 and all other 'normal Ferraris' are driven a reasonable amount which makes the performance of the car more important. I could also make a VERY strong argument that the F8 is not a 'normal Ferrari' based on performance, engine and amount produced but it's not a VS either. The point is that it is a tremendous value for the money. and So is a 488.... comparing production cars against a VS doesn't usually make any sense to do but the F8 and Pista are SOOOOOO close or EXACT in every single category that it actually makes sense to compare them. They are virtually the same car with slightly different but equally beautiful looks but the big difference is how they're used.... Pistas become collecitble and F8's get driven. And the great thing is that the F8 drives so much better, smoother and nicer so it truly is a Pista for the streets and semi-daily driving.... so for half the price, it's a SERIOUS bargain if you actually wanna drive your Ferrari.

    This is mostly accurate. Both cars will take a significant hit for higher mileage. The VS will take more of a hit but because the price of the Pista is appreciating while the regular models are depreciating, you’re likely more protected in a VS car, even if you drive them. I drive mine with no care. I know its highly highly unlikely I ever drop below my purchase price. Having said all this, I fully agree that the F8 is a seriously good deal for a very similar car. Not sure I agree that the F8 is more fun to drive halving owned both though. F8 is def the gentleman’s Pista. Someone called it a Pista touring which I thought was very accurate. All depends on what you want out of that car.

    Look youre not losing driving any of these cars. You can’t go wrong. They are all 10/10
