    Vandevanter, yes the battery has to be removed in order to fit the shield properly. If you are running an AGM it will indeed be a PITA to take it out and put back in with the shield in place.

    To anti gravity batteries, yes you have enough room to put a “cap” on top. The stock Ferrari shield thing was an afterthought at best as white out pointed out, which is annoying because these cars have rather high underhood temps, To be honest, the most clean solution would be to integrate the heat shield into the battery casing itself. The heat shield wrap I used has fiberglass and can cause splinters in your hand if not handled properly with gloves, just so everyone is aware.

    @Geoff_kg that heat shield looks good, and should help in traffic, but it seems the biggest issue with overheating the battery is likely to be when you shut off the car, and there's only so long an insulation blanket is gonna keep the heat out. Seems like you really want either a manual way to run the fans after shutdown, or a system with a thermocouple like the 928 has.
