I think the photo with 0556 (0446)/MD and 0454MD in the pop up showroom is my favorite picture of any 500 Mondial. So many of these just transport you back in time…

There is a black and white photo of the inside of that showroom - which I believe was the Carlos Kaufman showroom in Caracas - of those three cars by Eugenio Opitz, copyright owned by Marcel Massini. So I will let Marcel post it if he so chooses!

    Dear Dinoaurs,

Attached is the Gestione Sportive report to Enzo regarding this event. I do find it interesting that the fastest lap by Fangio in his 3 liter Maserati was only 2 seconds quicker than Castellotti in his 2 liter Ferrari (my old car).

    Best regards,

    Robert

Don't ask the factory to explain this one. Looks to me like Castellotti in #8 500 Mondial S2 Serial 0556(stamped 0446)/MD in front of DeGtaffenried #16 735 Sport Serial 0446(restamped 0556)/MD.

Dear Admiral: "Important is what comes out of the back" (Helmut Kohl). Fangio won and thats important. Perhaps his car was not running so well as it should on that day. Its worth to note, that it was a private entry of Fangio by his manager Marcello Giambertone. His contract for the 1956-season with Ferrari was not valid and the old man from Argentina chosed the 300S...
    Was not the worst decision...
