    any update on 348 alt/gen , ernie posted acura legend was the same, but looks like it has 4 connection plug vs 348 3 plug ? thanks

    I'm doing that to mine. I had mine rebuilt, changed VR several times with no relief. Ended up being a bad winding in the rotor. Acura Legend alternator looks the same, and the stator goes to 150A.

    The alternator of Acura Legend 91-95 has 4-pin round plug but one of the pins is not used:

    However, instead of the pin "S" (volt sensing, to control the alternator's output voltage) on the 348's alternator Regulator, the Acura's Regulator has pin "FR" which is connected to the engine ECU which sends certain signal to control the alternator's output voltage.

    Pin "S" of the 348's alternator is simply connected to the output line of the alternator, it senses the output voltage and it adjusts the alternator's field as required to maintain fairly stable output. I do not know what kind of signal is sent by the ECU to the pin "FR" and whether this pin can be connected to the alternator's output line (like the pin "S" is).

    Perhaps one could just replace the Acura's Regulator with a 348's one (I have not tried it).
