Alcohol will not dissolve any 2K paint and it is the best to remove soft touch coatings. You can use alcohol on our coatings until the cows come home and you won't hurt them. However, many of the OEM coatings are garbage and can't hold a candle to our coatings. Some are better than others.

If the alcohol since on the paint long enough it will dissolve, slowly. Not sure what Ferrari uses for their paint but I did not want to take that chance.

Shoul say if you leave the alcohol on the paint long enough ...

Jack, that is not correct. A 2K paint (one with a hardner) that won't happen.

With the Ferrari coating (sticky)that Ferrari used and to this day refuses to abolish, I don’t want to take a chance. Your product seems very well tolerated to all the caustic chemicals. Pretty impressive video! I do remember that on a different car I tried to use rubbing alcohol on plastic painted part and my rag was black and the plastic was showing through. I don’t have enough experience with Ferrari paint that they use under the rubber coating.

So, I should clarify. Ferrari doesn't paint interior parts, not a single piece. In the mainstream automotive world, suppliers are required to have OEM approval on coatings and the tests are rigorous. To be approved by GM, Ford or FCA (yes, I know Ferrari falls under this, but way down), the suppliers must meet many criteria. I know much of it but I will leave it at that.

I can tell you first hand, Ferrari is not watching over this as the suppliers use all different products that greatly vary in performance.

We actually have been enlisted to do some development work for a new automotive program but I can't share anymore details as its highly confidential.

However, I'm going to do a test in the next couple weeks. I will paint a few buttons with our coatings, fully cure them and then submerge the parts in 99% alcohol for up to 24 hours, checking them at different intervals. This is not something I've ever done so I am interested in the results. Needless to say, it's not at all representative of how the coatings are used in normal applications. But I will do so for giggles ;)

Don’t get me wrong, your product looks great and I would have send you the part I tried to remove, but just the removal process was not a DIY, for me.

It's all good. But, why not go to FoH and have them remove it?

It’s a time thing. 100 miles each way, I doubt they will do it on the spot, then mail it to you, bring it to them to install. I did not even ask the cost for this labor. But with my last service call which was covered via warranty to get a new battery installed was over $500 lol. I can live with it for now, since the buttons came out great I think macarbon makes a fascia that just snaps over the old trim if I get an urge. But definitely will revisit on my next annual service.

Sorry you had to go through that hassle. I will do anything on a car no matter the difficulty but pulling panels is the worst. I just did it on a brand new Camry door panel to replace a $1,000 side view mirror and broke two plastic clips in the process. I could not have been more careful. You just have to know ahead of time which way something goes. On a Ferrari this would be a great concern. Many dealers are not close (mine 1.5 hrs each way) so I totally understand your situation. If there are so many of these bits and pieces that need refinishing having a how to video would be invaluable to many. No one seems to be in that market and there is a real need from what I can tell.
