I looking into doing a full body PPF on my 296 GTS. Most installers are telling me I need to have a seam from base of mirror up to top of door? One said they can cut a hole the size of base of mirror and then heat up film with steam and stretch over the mirror but said the film may show stretch or glue marks? Another said they could remove door panels and mirrors to do a seamless job, but having a PPF installer disassemble my doors and mirrors is a bit cringe worthy? What is everyone else’s experiences ?

I have also seen guys stretch the ppf over the mirror with a hole. Disassembly of the door is another option. Honestly, even a small seam done properly will "disappear" after you use her. Unless you are OCD like me...

My GTS had the PPF already on it and it has the seam on above the mirror. Its not really noticeable unless your surveying the car. My car is white so I'm concerned dirt my show on the edges.

I PPF my whole car with the stealth one. The only thing I did not cover are the mirrors. They told me easier and nicer to paint them to match the rest of the car.
    Just as an idea...
    No seam visible this way...

I think he means where the mirror joins the door .
Yes you can steam and stretch that’s wheat topaz do now . The seem isn’t that noticeable after a while . I’d go for the steam if they mess it up they will just redo it anyway or if your not happy with it

So it is seamed around the mirror? I am going to use one of two providers in San Diego when my car comes in. I have seen one of them remove the mirror. Seems aggressive, but maybe not a big deal to remove?

Thoughts on PPF brand? I don’t like the grain texture of Expel when viewed closely in the correct light. I just viewed Stek brand and it was remarkably clear and glossy. Same installer also recommended Miracle Brand PPF for high gloss. What is everyone using?

My guys removed the mirrors. No adverse effects 1 yr later.
But do whatever you're comfortable with and what your installer feels their are comfortable with. Image Unavailable, Please Login

yes if you steam it it’s just stretching it around the mirror you always see some edges with ffp .you will either have a rim edge around the mirror housing or the other way around seam above it . Or like below just take the mirror off
