Apparently his Ferrari WDC is not historic to Ferrari. Lets hope that Ferrari actually listens to the total f'in obvious for once.
Maybe it was a mistake to have let Binotto go; he was an qualified engineer. Does Vasseur have an engineering background to guide a technical team ?
I mean I still think it was a mistake to let Arrivabene go to be honest. Engineers are awesome and essential. They are not always great leaders. Fred just strikes me as a loser. I don't like anything about him. I'll be happy to be wrong, but doubt I am.
Hummm, was Flavio Briatore qualified when Benetton put him in charge of the F1 team ? He had a commercial background, and, by his own admission, had never seen a motor race. But under his stewardship, the Enstone team had 4 WDC and 3 WCC titles ! Binotto is an engineer, and Ferrari needs to make better cars.
Enzo made Ferrari famous. Pininfarina made Ferrari desirable. Racing made Porsche famous. Competence made Porsche desirable.
Proof is in the pudding as they say - results have not improved and are arguably worse. We will see - if Ferrari isn't competitive in 26 or 27, Freddy will be fired as well.
Concur. Being a leader is about gettng talented people and putting them in positions to succeed. Sometimes cheating too in racing. LOL. I'm fine with Binotto as an engineering lead. I think he lacks certain traits which hamper his ability to lead the whole team.
Sure - that is a challenge, but not an insurmountable one under good leadership. If we believe it is insurmountable, then we are done - forever.
Cardile, ex-Ferrari employee, in now with AMRF1 and going into 2026, could be the team right up there with the top 3...minus Stroll. Binotto, ex-Ferrari employee, is now Stake/Sauber and earning points quite well. It's Audi next year. Mekies, ex-Ferrari employee, is now running RedBull and is doing quite well so far. So I believe the talent is there, it's just the politics from above make it insurmountable.
Talent is not the problem at Ferrari, and certainly getting talent out of the UK to Italy right now shouldn't be either (without delving into politics, lets look at the obvious tax advantage). It's management. It's always been the management.
I don't think Ferrari have the best of the best designers, so think that will always be a problem as long as they focus on finding the best in Italy vs best in the world. Why don't they aggressively recruit world class designers? I think that's an extremely arrogant mentality coming from the top. The folks that actually do nothing but are engulfed in power and money and status, they make the directive that I think restricts Ferrari from being the powerhouse like we saw in the Todt/Brawn days. Most people point the finger at the TP and I remember seeing Binotto taking all the heat and from my point of view he looked like a guy that was unable to change the team as needed because of Ferrari's internal directive. As @jgonzalesm6 said, Binotto is doing fine at Sauber, so I don't think he was the problem. Even though F1 is a global sport, I imagine the employees of F1 teams are still considered housed within a relatively small, exclusive community so I have to believe they share stories with each other. I can't help but think that Ferrari have painted themselves as a team that people don't want to work for. Sure the Italians still desire and dream of working for their home country heros, but maybe there's a reason the experienced Brits and Germans and everyone else don't want to work for Ferrari.
I'm fed up of this Ferrari only hires Italians, blah, blah... Look at Ferrari now, they have lots of non Italians. They have won with Italians, and lost with foreigners. Of course there are more Italians because the team is at Italy, just like you'll find an unusual % of Swiss at Sauber. This a classical post hoc ergo propter hoc fallacy.
Yes, it helps, but as someone else said, it's only unsourmountable if you think it's unsourmountable. Check out their line up, they already have foreigners. But I suppose it's easier to look for an easy answer.
"Foreign teams" may have a base in UK (RB, Haas, Audi and Cadillac soon) for logistic reasons. The fleet of aircraft transporting them to various locations around the world is located in UK.
