haha I wasn’t trying to be mean about it. The extra weight hurts when cornering or the feeling of being nimble. I can already tell a small difference between my 750s and the 296 as it is.
The Turbo S is a nice Brooks Brothers suit. Nothing more, nothing less. The 296 is a Brioni, maybe even a made-to-measure one. Both good suits, but made for different sartorial situations. Just like these two cars, Turbo S and 296.
Huge congratulations - that is a beautiful spec! As much as I love Giallo Triplo Strato, I’ve discovered a new color (Blu Carolina) and this beauty will be coming home soon Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Guys the Turbo S is an awesome car but: 1. it’s not even close to as fast as a 296! Forget about 0-60 which is pretty much a meaningless metric. 0-124mph, quarter mile and 60-130mph the 296 is on a different planet! 2. The Ferrari is much more visceral and fun to drive. 3. Ferrari is lighter 4. Ferrari looks better love the Porsche and have owned many. Is a better everyday high performance car vs a somewhat compromised super car.
Made me think… New Turbo S — Rolex Daytona (after all, Porsche seems to win more Rolex 24 hours at Daytona than any other manufacturer—I’ve seen many there) Ferrari 296 — Vacheron Constantin Bugatti (any) - Patek Philippe Quadruple Complication Aston Martin Vantage --Patek Philippe Calatrava
The TurboS is great if you want to be more discrete. Not completely, but more so. I don’t really mind too much to valet. The 296 is a lot more fun to drive. Always.
I think that’s a perfect delineation between a sports car and a supercar. “The one you don’t mind giving to a valet”
Link to my car for sale. Basically a brand new car and even has the model included. Everything is still in the packaging including the keys. https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/2024-296-gts-with-af.712612/
everyone should know here I’m a huge 296 fan and won’t be parting with mine any time soon, but. 1. I think yes, 296 goes 60-130 in 5.1 and 100-150 in 5.2 seconds and is much quicker than Turbo S in those metrics (I’ve posted my data here). But, from 0-100 I can see the turbo S being as quick or quicker and 0-124 (or 130) I don’t think it will be more than .5 difference in real world as Porsche is typically conservative. 2. Without a doubt! 3. Absolutely. 4. Subjective but to me the 296 is a triumph aesthetically.
