Can someone confirm whether or not its possible to replace the water pump with the gas tank and heat shield removed? Considering doing the belt service this way and just discovered a water pump leak. If the water pump can't be removed this way, no choice but to have a shop do the engine out service.

    Thanks!

If you can do the tank and shield out service, you can drop the engine yourself. There's a jack stand guide on here.

You can replace the water pump without even removing the gas tank

If it is possible, it'd be a nightmare job.
PRetty sure you can do the water pump if you drop the tank.

No need to remove tank for the pump. You can take out the PS pump and have room. If you are planning belts there is no way for a quality in the car job.
Do it correctly and remove the engine.

I dont understand why you would do a tank out rather than as designed, engine out. granted you might save 1-2 hrs but thats it surely?
