Factory I know, that they also used Conolly. But the 288 did not use Conolly. And the BB had a similar Leather, that is different to Conolly.
It was my understanding that the BBi was Connolly – specifically Vaumol. Again, not an expert by any means, but the sheen and wear on this 288 seat (55169) looks similar to what I've seen on a BB/BBi – which would indicate Ferrari was using Vaumol for at least some of the 288 as well (later than I thought). I just ordered some Vaumol hides from Connolly which I intended on using in my 365BB restoration. I'm concerned about the level of Pebbling in the grain of the leather and the thickness is over 2mm making it very difficult to recreate the original piping and other details. Also all the Vaumol period Ferrari's I have been in or involved in restoring have a reasonable subtle leather grain. I realise there is a naturalness factor with leather but has anyone else encountered similar issues with the modern Connolly? Thoughts on the attached photos?
