Suggestions on insuring my first Ferrari:

    I am about to purchase my first Ferrari, a 1986 328GTS.

    I've gotten recommendations for Leland West and American Hobbyist as options for reasonably priced insurance. Does anyone have recommendations on these and other sources for insurance?

    If it matters, I live in the Atlanta, GA area.

    They have special division for exotic cars, very fast and efficent.

    My buddy's 512TR got rear ended a couple months ago, he then have the car towed to the dealer right after the accident. And guess what, as soon as the car arrives at the dealer, a progressive adjuster was there.

    I have all of mine insured by Hagerty. Great rates and outstanding service. They really know the type of cars we drive.( www.hagerty.com )

    I second the nomination for Hagerty. Fabulous service on a couple of very sticky situations for me personally. Look in the thread about highest repair bills.

    I agree with Progressive. Whan an 85-year old geezer backed into my TR they responded quickly to resolve the matter. Plus the rates aren't bad...

    What do these specialty companies charge?

    Right now I have MetLife P/C for 6 cars, home, umbrella, etc. and they are charging me $724 per year for my 1984 308 GTB QV, for full coverage (comprehensive, collision, full glass, etc). This is an annual charge as I leave the coverage in place year round even though I drive it little, if any, in the winter. No accidents/tickets and the car is classified as pleasure use.

    BTW, my S2000 is a little more expensive than my Ferrari because it has a higher risk number associated with it. My sedans and SUVs are cheaper.

    Anyone willing to share what the specialty companies charge?

    Great American Insurance does my Porsche and my Dino.
    513-369-5000 is their administative office in ohio.

    Agreed value policies, so no arguing over what a total on the car would be.

    1990 C2 A.V $30K - $308/yr
    1972 Dino 246GT A.V. $60K $200/yr
    1974 Triumph TR6 AV $15K $97/yr

    $100K/$300K on liability, $50 deductible, even covers cracked windshields, etc. 5,000 miles per year per car limits.

    I get the coverage through my regular broker. They have a guy who specializes in classic/exotic coverage. I've been very happy with them since day one.
