Thank you Wayne for posting my car. This picture (The 328 next to the red Mondial) was taken at last years New York ROE. (See N.Y. Section for explanation) I would have posted it myself but I suck with the computer. I have it as my desk top, but I dont know how to post it or use it as an avitar. It says when I try it's not JPEG but an art file. ???? Like I said, clueless. It is Prugna. When I bought the car FNA said there were 10 made in 1986, and then 14 more through out 87,88,and 89, but I don't have the breakdown per year. I don't remember who took the photo. I think it was Andy or Barney. Whoever it was, thanks.

These are the first 308s I have seen in this color. I have had the car 9 years and I have only seen it 3 other times. A Mondial in the West Hampton. A Mondial in Lime Rock, Ct. and a picture of a 328 in the Dupont Reg. for sale. I spoke to a guy who works for Ferrari LI. He said he has worked for Ferrari fot 25 years and mine was the first 328 he had ever seen. I would love to know where it ranks in rareness of F colors. Also how many came to the US.

    Greg,

What a beautiful color! I'd heard of it before but thought,
Prugna? WTF? "sounds like yukna"! Man was I wrong.
It's so deep and rich. I look forward to seeing one in person!

Interesting color... none of those pics look the same... wine, maroon, purplish-red, and reddish-purple. I'll have to keep my eye out for a prune-colored Ferrari to see in person. Those of you that have them... do they look dramatically different under different lighting? Is the paint maroon and the metallic elements purplish (so it gets more purple with more light)?

The post by Miked I believe is not Prugna. Here on L.I. Andy (Tuttebenne) has a 308 in this color and when parked next to my car they are similar but not the same. I can not recall what they call it but if Andy sees this thread I'm sure he will let us know. Purple? Maroon? I'm not really sure myself, but I would have to say more maroon than purple. To those of you who complemented the color, thank you. I like having a odd color that you don't see everyday. No offense to you red guys.

Prugna(Italian for 'plum') replaced Rosso Rubino(the old
'maroon' color) during the latter part of the 308QV run,
which is why you'll occasionally see 308QV's in either
color. If memory serves, it came in around 1985-ish, so
is a bit less common on the 308QV than the Rubino.
I believe the above 308 2v pics are Rosso Rubino, not
Prugna. From 50-50(50 yards, 50 mph) they can look
similar, but if viewed side-by-side, are quite different.

My first venture into Fcar land was with a '79 308GTB in
Rosso Rubino, which i thought was a very nice color.
I decided to buy a new 328GTB and when talking to the
dealer was told that Prugna had replaced Rosso Rubino,
but that 'it looks fine, will be just what i want'.
    HA! little did i know...
Well, when i finally caught my first glance of the new-to-me wheels,
it was in a dimly lit part of the dealer's shop
and i just about dropped a load right there...wondered
'what the #&@* have i gotten myself into?' ...

Turns out, as anyone who's around this color will notice,
Prugna looks -very- different depending upon the
lighting. When in darker light, it looks somewhat like
dirty, dark brown-ish. When in low to medium light, it can
look purple. It has to be in moderate to bright light to
actually look plum, as in the pics posted above.

My color quest was also confused a bit by the interior colors,
as I'd decided i wanted a cream color. Well, a typo
on the spec sheet i was shipped listed 'beige', which one
might think would be correct. Problem is, in Italian lingo,
'beige'='tan', which was -not- what i wanted. A quick call
established that 'crema'='cream' and life was ok again.
Cream is a very nice contrasting color to prugna, so after
the dust settled, i was very happy(still am) with the color
    combo.

Sorry, don't have any digital pics and not likely to get some pics anytime soon...however, the above pic on the grass is pretty representative... :)

Don't think many were made in this color; i've never seen any others live/in the flesh, altho have seen pics...
    too bad, nice color...

This is the same color as my (81 308 GTSi) which is Rosso Barchetta. I had special ordered this from the factory when I bought my car.

Thought I'd take this opportunity to make my first post and give you another Rubino car to compare against. This one's my '84 Mondial QV and I've never seen another Mondial in the same colour, it'd be interesting to know if there are any more.
I love the Prugna tho, the colour is a conversation piece in itself never mind the marque within.
    Jon.
