    What is the proper way to anneal a copper squash washer? Does one dip it in cold water after heating to red hot or just allow it to air dry? Does it make any difference? I'm just curious.

    I looked into this the last time it came up at the old site, and the references I found showed no dependence between the quench rate and the post-annealed Cu softness (for reasonable quench rates) so "no difference" I believe.
