Could anyone tell me if a spring connected to the engine vibration mount in the front of the engine which extends to a point to the left of the throttle linkage is normal. I've never seen this before. Any ides what this could be. see attachement

    Thanks

Not normal. Most likely it's a secondary return spring for the throttle.

I bet someone added this thinking the throttle was getting stuck and it was only the floor mat (Cruise control) just causing the stuck throttle.

Before i knew it was the carpet, i was trying to think, maybe there needs to be an extra spring to pull the throttle back to idle????

Agree with Tod, it was done either to correct the throttle not returning, or maybe it is a bit sticky. Either way, this is not a correct fix.

Most racing bodies require 2 throttle return springs. What you have may have been required by the local autocross club or SCCA. Although, the stock throttel plate should have a return spring and the throttle position sensor should also be spring loaded. But it's up to the tech inspector on race day.
